Yeah Ange struggles more against the Wolves', Brighton's and Fulham's of the world. They're awkward sides who seem to deploy tactics that counteract his system. Bit like our games vs Bodo.

I love Ange but the thing that stops him reaching the top is his lack of plan b imo.

Weird season for him. Every time he gets a good result that looks like they're going for a top 4 finish they follow it up with an absolute shiter.

Still looking good for 5th which will be an okay first season for him but pretty average by Spurs standards.

Top 5 will still probably get him CL. But the vast majority of Spurs fans did not expect them to be in the top 4 before a ball was kicked this season.

I think they'll be more concerned about Ange's defensive frailties. He talks a good game and when it's good it's * beautiful to watch but you can't expect to win the big trophies with such a leaky system.

They might not have expected top 4 this season but it's been within their grasp so many times that all the daft points chucked away against Fulham, Wolves, Everton, Brighton etc is going to annoy them.

Especially if Emery beats them to it with Villa whilst also going deep into European competition with them.

Think he hasn’t sorted the dressing room attitude out as much as he’d like it to be, they have an arrogance that catches them out against dangerous smaller teams that they look like they’re on the pitch thinking they should win, rather than proving.

Contrast that to games they need to get up for and prove like Villa last week. That’s the attitude he would strive for, from first seconds of the Fulham game they’ve approached it like job was done against Villa and Fulham will take care of itself.

I really want Ange to get the Liverpool job, cos its a team he can prove he should be in the conversation at an elite level, and think he’ll prove that if he got it.

But also would love to see with another summer backed at Spurs and bolstering the squad to the quality and attitude he’ll be pushing for could actually do.

Cos if he changes * Spurs mentality from what they’ve always been, Conte and Mourinho who are absolutely born winners before anything else failed at it. It’d be one of the most impressive * I’ve seen in football.

I’m * desperate for him to get as much success as possible, I wasn’t even as interested in MON at Villa doing well. I’ve been watching any game that doesn’t clash with Celtic, following the results. Am I * a supporter but understand aw the Aussies that invaded this forum when he was announced a wee bit more. Including the chip on the shoulder, cos when he chins * pointing out his success here, * love that from Ange and think patronising English *:56:

It’s not all that leaky with the right personnel, but thats Van de Veen who has been unavailable a lot. And similar to what we seen here, he doesn’t change it all when the right guys for the system aren’t there. Ours was CCV and Starfelt, we were defensively solid as * then. Either one missing dodgy and just rolled with it. Both missing, was * terrifying and relying on the fact we could outscore teams of lesser quality. Spurs don’t have that fallback option. Van de Veen and Romero together though, they’re quite solid.

I don't think it's just Ange. It's a weird league, the current EPL. At the top, you have Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal, who are among the best teams in the world and are genuinely capable of winning the CL. At the bottom, you have Sheffield Utd, Burnley, Luton and Forrest, who are all strikingly weaker than the rest of the league (but still decent teams stronger than us or any other team in Scotland, with the possible exception of Sheffield Utd, who are a poor team). In between, you have these 13 teams who are all right good teams, all capable of smashing teams and all susceptible to being smashed. Outwith that top 3 and that bottom 4, every single one of them has played some incredible football at times and every single one of them has taken some really sore ones at other times.

I hate to say it; but it really is easily the best league in the world at the moment. They've been claiming that since I was a kid and I used to laugh at them until about 2016. I'm not laughing anymore.

Never understood the claims that he doesn't have a plan B, he clearly does. It was obvious with us too. You can't be perfect all the time.

Honestly the way he talks in the media does my head in. Couldn’t really stand it when he was here towards the end. A good manager but talks some amount of pish and can’t answer a question normally.

Liverpool have the same aggressive philosophy and they are pretty successful. I'd argue Angeball is practically identical to Klopp's gegenpressing. Difference is, Liverpool have VVD who commands the whole defense all by himself. It wasn't until they got him (and Alisson) that they started winning trophies. Tottenham have nobody close to that level.

Plus had a good 4 months without his top players and an already threadbare squad.
    Needs a really good summer

Replacing Klopp at Liverpool would count as a pretty good summer. :84: He'd inherit the perfect squad for his philosophy. If I were Liverpool, he'd be my #1 target over Xabi Alonso.

I see ange as the wildcard for Liverpool job.
Who knows....alonso is young enough to maybe want to see what he can do still at leverkusen and feel he can get to a Liverpool in future
