Just reading on X there the guy who does their tactical stuff John Walker’s piece on how to stop us.

He believes stopping us getting down our right is the key and they have to press us to play out through Scales or Taylor. To do that from goal kicks, again they want Cantwell to press McGregor, that has failed twice already due to his ill discipline and nature of chasing after the ball. He also has Silva off the left pressing very high more on our centre backs but leaving Johnston wide as an out and essentially leaving Yilmaz or Barasic 1 v 2 with Johnston and Kuhn.

He is also leaving Maeda 1 v 1 on Tavernier, has their deeper two centre mids man to man on Hatate and O’Riley. If any of our midfield 3 get off their marker they are one pass from putting Kuhn/ Maeda away down either flank. Especially if Hatate dropped in deep he could easily spread a pass out to our right to take advantage of that overload.

I do think they will play Sterling as a winger on the right to try provide cover for Tavernier and from our point of view I don’t like that physical match up against Taylor as Sterling is big and a quick guy. However there are a lot of match ups there I do like.

Hopefully, McGregor is good to go as having his ability to play out and dictate a game would be key even if he could do that for an hour then bring on the more defensive minded Iwata. McGregor absolutely dominated Cantwell that last game too.

    Is anyone actually surprised?

Not too fussed about Sterling. He has caused problems before but macausland tore our left apart last time.

    Interesting.

Let's be honest, they're absolutely going to target Taylor and Scales. Everyone does and who can blame them. Taylor isn't particularly fast and is somewhat vertically challenged, and Scales ... Scales is * pish and can't pass the ball.

Hopefully Kuhn and Maeda pin their fullbacks back and we can impose our game on them. If we're brave and go after them, we should have a good game.

I almost think it’s better being Beaton. All eyes are on him after his past performances. Whether they care or not is another question.

Usually, but he's also had to be subbed early on too. More a thought in terms of Idaha than a serious proposal as there will be no protection from the ref.

At least Collum is 4th official, I remember Beaton had to look at him for confirmation when Roberts was brought down for a stonewall pen..

They were always going trigger the press on Scales and Taylor. Everyone knows we're stronger going down our right.

I'd rather Taylor and Scales hoof it up the park and in spaces down the side for Maeda to give chase.

I remember that too. Young Maltese lad swiped Paddy down from behind, a more obvious penalty you'll never find yet poor John was looking around pitifully, desperate for anyone to give him a reason not to award it.

Everyone in Scottish football knows the score with Beaton and has done for some time, it won't make any difference. Our board are too spineless to do anything meaningful. Sevco will be buzzing because they know he's got their back(even though they like to pretend THEY are the ones treated badly by the officials) and the rest of Scottish football will tell you that we get as much favouritism from the refs as the huns, even though the evidence proves we don't. Beaton will be salivating at the prospect of this game. It'll be a FK every time a hun goes down, regardless of how little contact or their usual gamesmanship and he'll be itching to award them a pen for the most ridiculously pathetic reason. After all this is a country where Fashion Sakala was awarded a penalty for standing on Carl Starfelt's leg! The appointment of Beaton is nothing less than a big V-sign to Celtic football club and it's supporters and is fully intended to be so but the people who run the club accept it so what can we do?
