I don't care how much he costs, just pay the money if our manager/coaching staff/whoever makes the decision want him. Which I assume we'll have to, giving it was an agreement on fee before the loan.

    Did well today.

Still don't see £6m player at all. Certainly not £9m being talked about with expected add ons.

Would ye rather spend 3 million on an unknown project or 6 million and know what you’re getting? They numbers are nothing in football these days.

Yeah, 6m isn't much for a team in the CL. He also started 4 CL games so the manager must feel there is something about him.

Celtic plan to sign on-loan star Paulo Bernardo permanently this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Well-placed sources told Football Insider (30 March) that the Hoops want to develop Bernardo, 22, with a view to selling him for a “huge” profit in the future.

Now, it is believed that Brendan Rodgers’ side intends to activate his £6million release clause in the summer to bring him to Parkhead permanently from Portuguese giants Benfica

Rodgers is said to be very happy with the Portugal under-21s star’s development during his season-long loan.

While Celtic’s summer budget is yet to be decided, it is believed that the Glasgow giants are very keen on activating his release clause.

Bernardo had a slow first half of the season but has emerged as a top option for the title-chasing Hoops.

He recently broke into the starting line-up having made just two league starts before Christmas.

The central midfielder has since been named in Rodgers’ starting XI on nine occasions and recently bagged a goal from the bench in Celtic’s 3-0 win against Livingston on Sunday (31 March).

That strike brought his goal tally up to four for the whole season in all competitions and he has also notched two assists.

Bernardo is a regular for Portugal’s under-21s and recently captained his country to a 5-1 victory over Croatia in their Euro qualifier on Tuesday (26 March) during the international break.

    Possibly.
Poor souls - the pay cut they've been forced to accept ;)

It was just a side note anyway.
The point stands - he should get signed (in my view)

Its the talk of add-ons taking it to £9million I think is too much. That was mentioned a while back.

Fine with that imo. O'riley had a great start to the season but has dropped off. He won't be that big a miss and if bernardo continues his development its a straight and easy swap imo.

Hopefully not. If O'Riley goes in the summer (highly likely) then I'd want another AM in to replace his assists and goals.

Bernardo is certainly useful but he's a different kind of player. I see him more as an 8 that goes box-to-box, digs in when needed and links up defence and attack. His output at the top end of the field isn't anywhere near O'Riley's though. We'll need someone with guile and vision to unpick the stubborn defences we face all the time.

True. If he sells for £80 million even less, which is probably as likely.

We’ve plenty of money and we know what we get with him. Still plenty of developing To do, and in fairness with O’Riley going he’ll see a lot more starts which will benefit him. We always complain about not spending I see no problem with paying a decent fee for someone we know is good especially when we’re likely gonna get 2-3x the amount for O’Riley
