More or less the same. Luis Palma has got a bit of a knock so he may not feature. Apart from that, it's pretty much the same

    What a * nightmare

LUIS PALMA is the latest Celtic star struck down with a training ground injury.

The £4million winger picked up a knock in the build-up to the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Livingston which forced him out.

And now SunSport understands the Honduran ace is also a doubt for Saturday’s Premiership game against St Johnstone at Parkhead which could see the champions return to the top of the Premiership at least for 24 hours before Rangers go to Dundee.

Boss Brendan Rodgers hopes Palma can recover for the weekend but could decide to take no chances with the 24-year old and give him the international break to fully recover

LUIS PALMA could miss Celtic's Premiership title showdown with Rangers next month after a new update on the winger's injury came to light.

Brendan Rodgers revealed earlier this week how the Honduran wide-man would miss the Hoops' upcoming league clash with St Johnstone after he picked up a knock

The Northern Irishman explained that he would be without his summer signing for Saturday's match but gave positive news, saying he won't be sidelined long-term.

He was then called up for international duty for his country's CONCAF Nations League double header with Costa Rica and El Salvador next week.

However, he has now left Honduras' camp after an issue was discovered following tests taken by their medical team.

And they have given a four-week timeline for his return to full fitness, which would see him miss the match against Rangers on April 7.

However, he has now left Honduras' camp after an issue was discovered following tests taken by their medical team.

    '

A statement from the Honduras FA read: "The Honduran Football Federation informs the Honduran fans and sports press that the player Luis Palma has been withdrawn due to medical incapacity from his call to the national team led by Professor Reinaldo Rueda.

"According to the information received at the FENAFUTH General Secretariat, the medical department of Cetic FC, the club to which the player belongs, indicates that magnetic resonance studies were carried out on the Palma team, who presented muscle discomfort in his right leg.

"The imaging study confirms the presence of a low-grade muscle lesion in the proximal third of the right soleus, which, in accordance with the clinical tests performed and correlation with the imaging studies, formulates the following diagnosis:

"Grade I muscle injury of the proximal third of the right soleus at the myotendinous junction according to the Prakash and UEFA ECIS classification

According to the medical department of the Honduran national team and considering all the information supported by images sent by their Celtic FC counterparts, it is estimated that the national team will maintain a rehabilitation period of 3 to 4 weeks to return to competition

FENAFUTH wishes Luis Palma a speedy recovery and reiterates its commitment to the health and well-being of all the national team players."

Palma has been a key player for Rodgers this season, having scored six and assisted nine in 23 Premiership fixtures since the start of the campaign

The 24-year-old joined Celtic from Greek side Aris for £3.5million last August and agreed a five-year deal with the Scottish champions

Should be first name on the team sheet regarding wingers. But has a few bad h games so gets binned. Think he’ll be away in the summer and do well somewhere else where he’s starting. No point wasting that talent rotten on the bench here. We could easily double our money already too.

Can’t see him leaving in the summer at all, if he pushes for a move then * him anyway because that’s a terrible attitude, I don’t see that in him though.

Rather can see a pre-season with him adapting more to what is expected of him, and training a bit more decision making into him. His ability and creativity is insane, we need to be making the most of it

    Talk about an overreaction.

He’s had more than a few bad games and he was rightly dropped. The guy isn’t untouchable.

Needs to improve to really cement his place in the team. It’s that simple.

He’s hardly had a chance since he was dropped though. Whereas Maeda is rubbish 9/10 times and is untouchable. Scales, Taylor, AJ even O’Riley have been rubbish a lot of the time and they are untouchable too.

Standard Rodgers. Muscle injuries seem to go hand in hand with him at every club

Find it remarkable that given the amount of sport science guys involved in football these days that 10 years on from his time at Liverpool, constant muscle injuries to multiple players is still a regular occurance under him.

The biggest worry is that traditionally it gets worse in his 2nd season at clubs

Hopefully being left out and when he fully recovers, will make him even more determined.

I didn't know this - do you think he hires the wrong guys sport science-wise or something about his training?

I'm not too sure. Possibly. Think he brought a sports science guy in this summer when he returned.
The last time he was here it was suggested that it was due to intensity at training at least that's what the talk was coming from Liverpool.

We don't play with that level of intensity this time around and played far higher intensity last 2 seasons so it's hard to say if it's that now.

Ange regularly spoke about sports scientists having big say on how much work players did and when so I'd imagine it's the same under Rodgers too.

But despite all of that it's definitely something that has followed him around for the past 10 years at least

LUIS PALMA could give Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers another major pre-derby boost by proving his fitness for Ibrox.

SunSport understands the £4million winger is ahead of schedule with his rehab from a muscle injury suffered in training prior to the Scottish Cup win over Livingston early last month

And the nine-goal winger is expected to be involved in training in the lead up to the titanic title clash with Rangers.

If Palma comes through sessions with no reaction then he will almost certainly go into Rodgers’ squad for a game that could see the champions go four points clear at the top – and have their Premiership fate firmly in their own hands for the closing stretch.

Rodgers has already been delighted to welcome back Reo Hatate – excellent on his return at Livingston – while skipper Callum McGregor is also set to be available to face their bitter rivals after five weeks out with an Achilles problem.

Ex-Rangers target Palma’s inclusion would mean the Hoops would virtually have a full strength squad for the biggest game of the season yet

Be a great option off the bench. Great for having our best players back for the run in
