Plays it far far too safe. Needs to impose himself on games and have a telling influence. Could quite easily be described as a BORING player.

I wouldn't be signing him even at a cut price deal he's been bang average he had a spell of 4 weeks where he was good and 2 of those were the winter break

I like him a lot in regards his work rate and his game intelligence. Probably not worth £6 million though. If we could get him for £4.5 million then that would be more realistic.

Maybe it’s me, but I can’t see enough in him tbh. As someone else said earlier in this thread, he needs to impose himself on the game more.

And we think we shouldn't buy him?

  8. Whilst I'm not in the "get it done" bracket, if it were 6m straight up it's a no brainer. He's 22, we'll easily make that back with a couple of mil tacked on after 3 year or so. But NOT for 70%.

That's the guts of 9m quid. I'm speaking in terms of a common sense scenario, that doesn't apply to Celtic.

We could go out, sign a 24-25 year old mid for 8 or 9m, who could change our whole midfield dynamic and bring it up a level. But we won't.

The problem, as usual, is our scouting, coupled with Desmond's board directive to throw * at the wall for 2m a pop a hope some of it sticks.

We're such a * mess right now it might be better, and SAFER to let Benfica bend us over.

We'll just go out, spend that 6m on two or three midfielders who will be rank rotten, and see them moved on after leeching the wage bill for 2 or 3 years.

At least with this kid we know what we're getting, know where he needs to improve, and know his head's on straight.

  9. Holm will get his chance next season I think Oriley will be gone and Bernardo will slip right into his Riley’s position

  10. Holm should've been loaned out to to a top 6 side in January..

Captaining an u21 side against the Faroe Islands, whilst playing alongside that big diddy Silva from Rangers changes absolutely nothing.

We buy him if he performs well, he’s played enough games and had what? 2 or 3 decent games? That’s worth £6m/£7m to you? Bearing in mind that probably about half the budget we will get in the summer. Absolutely nowhere near the level required to replace O’Riley right now.

He’s went from playing regular games in Norway to essentially nothing here. If Kwon can look competent in a St Mirren team, I have no doubts that Holm could have really kicked on at Hibs or Aberdeen or something

    I agree.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if he kicked on and we all complain we missed the boat.

A stellar end to the season, sign him - if not, don't.
We'll see soon if he can carry the 'extra weight of the jersey' in the title race.

Really think another loan season with the option to buy remaining at the 6-7m price is best option.

Rather than trying to negotiate it down a little to sign perm now.

He's not s bad player, seldom makes mistakes, just isn't influential enough yet.
Could still go either way and a loan again could help him settle in to the side more, then worth the money.

This is it if we're being honest. He does have a bit about him but how much of it, I don't know.

I 100% want us to sign Miller ASAP. If we don't get him this window, we never will.

Don't get this at all. Bernardo has played a handful of decent games and the rest has been on the good side of average.

Unless other are seeing something I am not then why are we entertaining an offer at £6M. Usually when we are looking at that bracket of price it is for a game changing standard of player, the likes of Jota, ccv and even kyogo was £5M. Bernardo is no where near as good at his role as the players I just mentioned. If Bernardo was going to cost 2/3M I'd say ok that's good business, got time to develop and he is definitely useful to have but at £6M, you want a game changing player, someone you really miss when injured etc.

My fear is that this is a sign that we haven't got a better alternative on the target list. That's a scary thought when Bernardo has been largely average all season

IF O'Reilly is for the off, let's assume for £25m, get rid of McCarthy and the rest of the squad deadwood (Holm and Kwon?)
Id take both Bernardo and miller for less than half the O'Reilly fee, then use the other half to actually replace O'Reilly, because neither of the two are his replacement, or else it's more backwards transfer policy.
