We've just sacked Lawell jnr and his sidekick, who have been terrible at their jobs. So who's scouted this guy??

I'd be very very wary of anything on a list looked at by the previous scouting/recruitment team.

Is it Rodgers, who should be focusing solely on the team at this moment.

Absolutely need to be planning on getting players for next season, but it's crucial we get the right people in the department first before moving ahead.

Not against freebies, but this isn't an area we should be being tight on.

Wary of us not learning from the past 2 years. Get the recruitment team sorted first please.

 

He has defo got a story! Nearly died last year on the pitch against Ajax! Got stomped on his head, had to be reanimated. Days in a coma.

before he became a pro footballer the lad was a security-afekr at an electro store. One day he gave chase after a shoplifter. Got stabbed for his troubles! Nearly died as well.

would be disappointed if he was our first goalie. However a good second. PSV is looking at him to replace their second goalkeeper.

 

I wouldn't go so far as to say he's "pish", but stat, performance, and ability wise.... He's a back up.

We don't need a * back up, unless seigrist gets his move to Oz to be a celebrity wife.

But if this is a first choice option... I * despair.

 

Angus Gunn is alright, he is not Scottish homegrown though if anyone thinks that.

 

We do need two GK's in the summer tbh. Hart gone and Siegrist almost certainly gone.

Surely he wouldn't move to another country to be 2nd choice. He'd be as well as going to PSV for that reason. Closer to home and decent money.

If true, he'd be our first choice keeper... a free transfer.

 

So we was moaning the other day we don't use the free transfer market. Now we're moaning we're using the free transfer market? Better than £5m barkas, so a bargain it is.

 

Dunno who 'we' was, but it wasn't me. Nothing against the free market at all.

But going back to my first post in this thread, be it a free or a £5m keeper, means * all if you have diddys scouting them. And thats what we had.

So is he a previously scouted player under Lawell jnr, or is it a Rodgers scouting job. Rodgers should be nowhere near scouting in this title race. And we have scouts (very loose term under Celtic) working away to what parameters??

Board need to be working at double pace here to get the right team in place for the summer recruitment first and foremost. That's the priority.

And if that team interviewed and hired correctly, is put in place and freebies are identified. Then I'm all for it.

 

Certainly uninspiring if there is any truth in the rumour .

If he's coming in as back up, fine.

If he's even being considered for Hart's replacement, I'll kick off.

A keeper is someone you cannot scrimp on.

28, never really lit it up, playing for basic Dutch club.
Current forms one clean sheet in every 5-6 games.

On a free transfer - yup, screams of the lazy "scouting" our club is known for.

I'm all for saving the pennies (in the idea to invest elsewhere), but this is a major * position that needs to be right. We are literally losing Hart this season, the next two in line are surplus to requirements.
In essence, we have NO keeper currently at the club to play number 1.
We really don't have the time to * around and get this wrong.

If the guy was say, Livakovic level of player on a free, then sure. But he's not.

We really need to get this right and scout and pay the going rate for a keeper.

This, and we should definitely not be signing anyone without knowing who our manager will next season. Even if Rodgers wants to stay, we won't know his fate until the last league matches are played.

 

Rodgers is the manager next season.

If he was that poor and ready for the sack, he would be.
As it stands, the club and fans should plan ahead with him in mind.

He needs to win the league. And it is a tight affair. If he fails, he won't be leading us next season. If he's decided that working with this board is too difficult, then we need a new manager. The signing of Idah as a plain loan has been interpreted as a sign he is leaving regardless of the season's outcome.

 

I’d like to agree but judging by history any keeper we have splurged big money on has been *

Forster 2m great
Hart 1m great
Gordon free great
Boruc 1.5 mill

Mental that from my memory that’s been our first team keepers over the last 20 years
