I think that too. (Same with Holm)
I don't think he's suited to our system with his lack of pace but also don't think it's as much of an issue that would lead to him playing so little. Scales and Welsh aren't exactly rapid either. Maybe they're just better but we will probably never see enough of him to properly judge for ourselves.

Agree with this he looks composed on the ball, good passing he also looks as if he has gained bulk. I think he looks a better player than the way he's being treated.

Shocker he didn’t come on when CCV went off. Didn’t put a foot wrong when he did

Not like Rodgers to put his arrogance in the way of progress.

Agree that lad deserves far better. That substitution today was as petty as * and then had to turn to him to help see the game out.

Didn’t have a lot to do when he came on but looked assured. I have to say I think the guy has had a raw deal here. I don’t think he is anywhere near as bad as he has been made out to be.

I think he is a better centre back than Welsh in terms of defending. He also never got enough games to settle in and we only lost one goal domestically with him in the side. We could definitely use his height at set plays in both boxes.

His passing was rotten in the games he played earlier in the season.

What all 5 mins? Didn't think he looked particularly good or bad in all honesty.

We lose a goal and guys think Brenden should be sacked bcoz he didn't replace CCV for lagerbielke...at the time of the subs we were 3 up and cruising..CCV just back gets subbed and iwata who we're looking to get 90 minutes into his legs dropps back... O'Reilly who's been overplayed then gets subbed for lagerbielke meaning iwata moves back into midfield has guys * moaning...it's the manager changing things and using the squad ...it's Brendan doing what he's best at.

Rodgers has done it a couple of times this season where he makes a strange sub only for him to realise he made a mistake 10 mins later. Can't mind what game it was but it was at Parkhead he brought on Bernabei as a winger he was terrible then 10 mins later he had to sub Taylor for a winger

It actually seemed a bit snide today that, and I think he only went back on it and changed his mind because it may have affected Iwata. Don’t think it was to give Lager a chance. He denied a last minute move for him last day of the window because he needed cover due to injuries.

There’s been rumours of that causing friction but the interview from him midweek was perfect attitude from him, and if he’s showing that in the background, but wants more gametime to prove himself * fair enough.

Today seemed like driving a point in that he’s the last guy he’ll turn to, until Tomoki (was it an OG officially btw I’ve seen both him and the St Johstone striker down as last touch?), but until Tomoki was affected, and he needs him keeping up his confidence and flying, then he changed it.

If that didn’t happen, he wouldn’t have got on. I don’t rate the guy, but he should have been on today. And if BR doesn’t think so, then his move shouldn’t have been stopped so he can impress elsewhere and maybe recoup a fee. I really didn’t like that today.

Hearts game at home. Brought Forrest on for Taylor after bringing Bernabei on for Palma, which seemed like a knee * reaction to Palma over hitting a pass.

Getting an extra clean sheet, which we get few of, could have been a big confidence builder for the backline. Instead it's knocked confidence.

He should have subbed CCV for Lagerbielke and or subbed O'Riley for Holm.

That’s the angriest I’ve ever been at a substitution that, was mental. Palma was the only guy creating anything at all, the week before that Taylor played 60 minutes with the flu and then Ralston got brought on at LB. That’s just how much he had just shown Bernabei wasn’t to be trusted, how much he rated him and then be done that.

Still can’t explain the thought process to that, I was going wild saying ‘he’s * intentionally just being a * here int he, any other explanation or just intentionally being a *!?’ Annoyingly still the best explanation I’ve got for it and I was being unreasonable during the game reactionary me :56:

Aye, CCV coming off an conceding right away drives the point home to the guys on the pitch when he’s not there they can’t without him. Keeping calm and steady, a clean sheet for the first time in what 8/9 games? Stuff like that matters. Joe Hart was going mental for a reason, he done more than enough the first save as it is, and is experienced enough to know the little stuff that’s * important for the big picture. Far from a guarantee we’ll have CCV available for the rest of the games, can’t just do it when he’s there. Others need to step up. The goal we conceded * knows if Lager would make much difference to it, but Rodgers * up by not having him on the pitch. Been much happier with BR the now, but there’s wee moments like that choice today that just seems like its not football based from him. I said it earlier in this thread but it felt a snide decision.

Also drives the point home that we desperately need another cb of the level of CCV this summer. The others all look fine when playing alongside him but as soon as he's not there they look * honking.

Similar in the way efe ambrose looked competent when playing alongside Virgil. How quickly we realised that wasnt the case the moment he left

I'm not exactly a football mastermind (to put it mildly!) and even I saw the goal coming when I saw how we were going to play. IIRC several people even called it in the match thread.

I called for CCV to go off the moment the 3rd goal went in; but I was stunned when he moved Iwata back instead of bringing on Lagerbielke. Moreover, bringing him on after the goal was virtually an admission that he got it wrong IMO and we immediately looked much less vulnerable.

It was a bad mistake and IMHO it was his ego that made that choice.
