Think wee Jamesie at his peak was better than anything we have now. Always had a soft spot for him.

He's barely played and has scored 2 goals, and hit the bar in our draw at Easter Road. Not that bad for 325 minutes.

I'm not saying he should be ahead of Yang, Kuhn or Vata right now, but i respect his contribution. Scoring in 15 consecutive seasons probably won't be done again in my lifetime.

He’ll retire after next season and not move anywhere, as a one man club player, and a legend (might take 10/15 years for people to talk about that he 100% is) and fair play to him for that.

Don’t think he’s interested at all playing anywhere that’s not us. He’s had a lot of injuries in his career, played a lot of games from very young. Another 5 years would just be abuse to his body for teams he doesn’t give a * about. He’s always made it clear any wee snippet we hear from him, rare snippets, he’s not interested in anywhere else.

Brendan Rodgers has hailed James Forrest as 'Celtic's best winger' and claims the veteran could still have a role in their quest to land silverware.

Forrest, 32, has spent his entire career at the club - amassing over 300 appearances. However, his role has been limited since Rodgers return to the dugout, with the Scotland international struggling to make the match day squad during recent times.

Celtic face Livingston on Sunday, with the Hoops targeting a place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals. And speaking ahead of the last-eight clash against David Martindale's Livi, Rodgers claimed Forrest is still very much in his thoughts and believes the wide-man may be required throughout the final 11 games.

"James is available and he's training," the Northern Irishman revealed. "He has been an amazing servant to this club and I think in these final games he may well have a part to play.

For me, the thing is looking at the team, we need to have that intensity and that relentless mentality. There's no doubt about his ability. That's never in question. As a winger, in terms of ability, he's the best one we have.

"But how we ask the game to be played with the intensity and the constant running, as you get older it becomes a challenge. There's no doubt, I'm pretty sure there will be a point in these next 11 games when he will be required. He's training so well and he's keeping himself so well. He's a top professional. He looks after his body every day and if he's required to play then he will do

So Yang is suspended and Abada is away, and suddenly Forrest is 'Celtic's best winger' according to Rodgers.

No disrespect to Forrest, but BR is so transparent and completely full of BS. I get why he is saying it and you can call me a cynic if you want, but it wouldn't ring quite so false if BR hadn't pretty much snubbed JF the entire season to this point without reason, only to suddenly declare him the 'best'.

In fairness he made them comments before Yang got suspended and Abada was away :giggle1: he said James is the best winger in terms of technical ability etc but unfortunately can’t play at the intensity we’d like…… etc

Given that other options are khun or Maeda. He'd be 1 of the 1st names on my team sheet on Sunday.

    * me what a state to be in, did we not have 8 wingers just over a month ago?

I wouldn't be upset to see him back in the starting 11 tbh.

At this point he’s a pair of safe hands. May even be a master stroke for the run in, in all honesty.

The Strachan run in when we were miles behind but had the Huns a couple of times in the run in he dropped Crosas and Donati for Hartley and Robson and it provided a base to go and win the league.

Not saying it would definitely happen but the likes of Forrest may be the type of experience and reliability we need just now.

    Absolutely agree.
Experience in a tight run in like this, for me, is worth a lot more than step overs and flashy play to the crowd.
I wish we'd sign more experienced players than potential crowd pleasers tbh.

He did well for his cameo appearance, Unfortunately I don’t think he could sustain that level of performance for 90 minutes.

Enjoyed his wee cameo there. I still think he can be used more when we need his experience in there.
