As said, he would be a sore one to miss out on. Hopefully the Turnbull deal puts us in a good spot with Well and we don't * about. Is the lad a Tim? I'm lazily assuming he is cause of the name.

    Absolutely must signing for us.

Get him punted on loan, even back to Motherwell but hopefully a better standard team.

Signing him and David Watson should be no brainers.

Probably cost £4/5m between the two of them and it’s two very exciting, young, Scottish midfielders.

Could be part of the team for the next decade.

Exactly. I was trying to explain this to my son Tavernier but he wasn't having it.

Both very very good. Miller a bit classier and silky but the energy and business Watson shows across the midfield, actually think they’d be great together.

a shame though that I think our board will think it’s one or the other. Can see Watson in England or to the huns

From our point of view, should be definite interest. Has the potential to go to the top imo, plays the game with such maturity already and obviously homegrown. From his point of view, why would you come here and not play games most likely when you look at how many midfielders we have including loans. Especially when it looks like Lawal and Kwon are flying out on loan.

There isn’t even anyone other than McCarthy you would be desperate to fet off the books, although MOR and Bernardo you would expect to leave.

    Get £10m for Abada.

Spend some of it on Miller ffs.

Wouldn't even cost half what were getting for Abada.

Unfortunately this is how a lot of young talent is going to be looking at our club now.

Why leave Motherwell, where he is getting regular game time, to come sit on our bench and maybe get 180 minutes the entire season?

Two years at Motherwell, by time he's 19, he will be signing a contract in Italy, Germany or down south.
Worst case scenario, he then gets loaned to English championship or Serie B - where he will still get regular game time.

By time he turns 20 he would break in to a serie A side for sure

Meanwhile, come to Celtic and he would struggle to get more than 20 starts by the time he gets to 20 and would be staring at a reduced level of development and an eventual move south after his contract runs down.

As a youngster, I know what I'd do.

As a Celtic supporter though, we should be doing everything we can to sign him and not do any of the above.

The only fix to this problem is to guarantee him the playing time Bernardo has had, assuming he returns to Benfica. Even a bit of O'Riley's. Straight up tell him: you'll be a first team player.

It's why we need much better quality overall.

Too many "squad" players meaning youth development suffers.

See if we just had 4 or 5 real quality midfielders for the 3 man midfield, it mean we can have 1 or 2 guys like Miller and/or Kelly who would actively get game time.
Knowing the other guys are of quality to bring them on and the midfield doesn't suffer from ending up being too many squad/fringe players at one time.

It would be a whole other level of incompetence to let this lad slip through the net.

He’s about as proven as you can possibly get for 17/18 years old.

He’s turned offers from England down because he wants first team football so that might be a stumbling block for us. Unless we buy him and loan him back to Motherwell which I think works for everyone.

It’s clearly a great mentality he has turning down offers of more money to focus on getting experience and developing.

He’s also going to be a proper unit by the time he’s 21/22 and something we desperately need is raw physicality and athleticism.

See being honest I would be up for it, if it meant we could sign him. Miller looks a real talent and the profile of a modern day centre midfielder. Next season we will have McGregor still and being honest beyond that at centre midfield it could be up for grabs depending on what happens with O’Riley and Hatate.

If both them leave I think we need a few in to replace them, this season has shown:

    1. Bernardo shouldn’t be signed.
    2. Holm needs a full season out on loan playing week in week out.
    3. Lawal and Kwon need assessed but replacing Hatate or O’Riley with them is not like for like, both are more defensive minded vs two attacking midfielders.
    4. Kelly looks a talent but again would he benefit from a season in the Premiership?

I think we won't be able to fill every required position with equal quality in the summer. The correct approach is IMO, to focus on 2 bigger signings. I'm hoping Hatate stays. If he does, I'd be happy with Kwon, Iwata, Calmac, Holm, Hatate, Miller and Kelly as midfielders. Most funds should go to a GK and LB. But everything will depend on who is our manager next season.

We don't sign exciting Scottish talents, just the duds.

    Should be all over him.

I don’t see why we wouldn’t other than our own incompetence being honest.

Abada is going for a sizeable fee, O’Riley will leave for a sizeable fee, we will be due a big sell on from Frimpong and likely get fees for guys like Mikey Johnston and hopefully shift some of the other unwanted guys like Lagerbielke, Bernabei and Haksabanovic. We should be bringing in north of £35m. We already have £67m in the bank.

We will need a lot of players so say a budget in the region of £25-30m should not be out of the question.

There are a lot of good options out there who have expiring deals e.g.

Left back - Gijs Smal of Twente; Martin Frese, Nordsjaelland; Sergi Cardona, Las Palmas

Centre backs - Scott McKenna, Notts Forrest; Serge Raux Yao of Rodez; Till Cissokho, QRM

Centre midfield - Ibrahima Sissoko, Strasbourg; Dani De Wit, AZ Alkmaar; Tochi Chukwuani, Lyngby; Alex Robertson, Man City B; Martin Neto, Benfica B; Marcel Hartels St Pauli; Otar Kiteishvili, Sturm Graz; Connor Barron, Aberdeen; Callum O’Hare, Coventry.

Sign 5 of that list and go out and spend the remainder on 4 or 5 players including Lennon Miller, a Goalkeeper, winger, striker and another.

That should not be out of our reach.
