Celtic winger Liel Abada has reached a full agreement to join MLS side Charlotte FC in a permanent deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The 22-year-old is set to leave Parkhead imminently after becoming unsettled in Scotland.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (1 March) that Celtic were willing to listen to offers for Abada with the club keen to recoup the £3m spent on him in 2021.

It is understood that Abada became unsettled due to major personal issues over the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The Israeli winger signed a four-year deal with Celtic in September – just one month before the conflict in his home country escalated.

The main fan group at Parkhead, the Green Brigade, have frequently raised Palestinian flags during matches despite the club issuing an official warning against it.

Brendan Rodgers publicly addressed Abada’s situation after he missed three consecutive games for the Glasgow side.

Rodgers stated: “It’s sadly a situation which doesn’t put him in the right frame of mind to play.”

Abada will depart the Hoops for the MLS having scored 22 goals and registered 29 assists in 112 appearances across all competitions.

He joined the club from Maccabi Petah Tikva in 2021 and won five trophies with the club including two Scottish Premiership titles.

I think Abada is a terribly average footballer but £3m is a * take if that's true.

Had to be done, zero point keeping him around considering the circumstances.

Sorry to see him go, a talented footballer that had to leave the club due to the terrible situation in Gaza. Wish him well and hopefully he will play for a top European team.

Not really given his contribution this season, it's probably best for all parties.

Sure, its best for all parties.. but remains a multitude of goals/assists which we haven't replaced this season with his absence.

And he's now being shipped out for a subpar fee.

    An utterly bizarre situation.

Shame it had to end like that. His record for us is good. Hasn't been on form for some time but.

    He's worth a lot more than £3m.

The pressure is too much on him with the circumstances. He does need a fresh start, but we can't sell him that cheap to end the situation.

Aye, because Abada could have predicted the escalation of violence in October.

We don't even know his personal view on it, he could be being pressured by his family and a multitude of other factors.

Probably didn't realise there would be a terrorist attack on his country and "we" would be celebrating it though. Such things are tricky to predict

Can’t come quick enough, I wanted him gone long before the political *.

An example of why cashing in is a balancing act, we’d have got 8 minimum before this season.

Some good memories, particularly in Ange's first season.

The late goal v Dundee United and then the third against the Klan in that 3-0 classic.

Put us top and we never looked back.

It's unfortunate how it has ended for him. But ultimately, his country is committing genocide and that cannot be whitewashed.

You are aware the war hadn't escalated when he renewed his deal right?
