Winning the title

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by stirfry999, Dec 10, 2023.

  1. This time yesterday we were a 2-1 chance I'd say, this morning about 11-10. A win today and we're 10-11.

Door is open, but we still gptta walk thru it...

Win our games and then get to the game against them, and we no longer need a win or draw as they've got to come to us and get something after. That result was massive as long as we capitalise today. The pressure just got huge on them. They now must win against us, and they must do what they've never done before and win at paradise with only one fan allowed inside. The ref.

Dundee was just a flash in the pan. Unless the huns implode spectacularly then we simply don't have the bottle to win the league. Too late to change manager now aswell.

  4. No change before this weekends game and that's how it is - still 2 points behind with all to play for. The game today you cannot read anything in to it due to the circumstances. We need to regroup for the remaining 9 games. They are not a good side either. Plenty of twists & turns to come

The celebrating from our fanbase was a bit mental yesterday when we still sat 2 behind. Always nice to see your rival get beat but christ wait till 3pm Sunday.

Saving grace it's still the same gap. But some of the same mentality issues clearly still here.

Just knew we wouldn't be able to take advantage today.

I voted no in December after getting beat off of Hearts and Kilmarnock. Yesterday gave me a glimpse of hope with sevco having a collapse but it means * all if we do the exact same the very next day

Yesterday was a blip for them.

    Today was standard for us.

As I said yesterday, I never bought into this "we've turned a corner" *.

We'll be out of it after the game on April 7th.

Ordinarily I’d say you couldn’t read too much into this, given the ridiculously harsh red and playing with 10 men the entire game.

But even so, there are some areas that are really, really worrying. We cannot string more than a couple of wins together when we need to win every game. Performances, with or two exceptions, are dire.

And what the * are we doing in training? Are we not practicing penalties? Look at the other mob. We slag Tavernier to death but he’s good at converting them and other set pieces too. And they have a plan for that. What are we actually doing? We’re not a threat from anything. I have no faith when we do get a penalty that we’re going to score it. Same goes for corners and free kicks.

It’s * hour from top to bottom. It’s fashionable to target John Kennedy sometimes, but you do have to question what his input actually is. He knows what works, he’s worked closely with Ange. He’s clearly not incompetent or they wouldn’t compliment him like they do. Yet we’re regressing massively and moving further and further away from what made us so effective. Not for the first time.

  15. We lost away to our next toughest rival because we went down to 10 men, they're loss is worse given it was at home and the opposition.

I know a lot of people won't accept it but really this weekend hasn't been the disaster it likely feels like. Head to head games are the crux.

  16. If officiated fairly, we'll win the league.

No point slamming the team today.

We've beat them twice and are 2 points behind them though so that's not true. Yes they're result on paper is worse but it's not like we've been spectacular at home either

Said this to @NomDePlum yesterday, but the huns result against Motherwell has given us a small reprieve.

Essentially, we need to win at Ibrox to win the league.

  19. We beat them twice more and I think we'll win this. Get what you are saying though, we've been really poor this season.

  20. Understandable, but some of the celebrations yesterday after the Sevco result were incredibly premature.

We’re still in with a shout but we need to show form between now and the end of the season that we haven’t demonstrated so far this season. Hand on heart, I don’t think this squad scream ‘league winners’ to me. Just very weak in key areas.
