BRENDAN RODGERS says winning the Premiership by ONE point this season would seal his sweetest ever title.

In his first spell in charge Rodgers steered Celtic to a record-breaking 30-point winning margin over Aberdeen.

The Hoops have the chance to go top of the table if they beat Hearts following Rangers' 2-1 defeat to Motherwell.

Given the on and off-field problems the club have faced this season, Rodgers feels beating their fierce rivals to the prize would be even more special than their incredible unbeaten league campaign back in 2016-17.

Given the on and off-field problems the club have faced this season, Rodgers feels beating their fierce rivals to the prize would be even more special than their incredible unbeaten league campaign back in 2016-17.

Rodgers said: "Since coming back it has been one of the toughest (seasons).

“If you trace back my career, it has normally taken off in the first couple of years in a job.

"But this has definitely been a challenge.

“It’s never all going to be plain sailing so you have to adapt and find a way.

“You never think anything other than you’ll hit the ground running. But you also know through experience there will be bumps in the road.

“There has been more this year than I’d have thought.

“When I looked at the squad, guys like Jota and Starfelt were here but that all changed.

“Then we had injuries and other stuff going on outside of the pitch.

“These were all things we had to manage and get over. But I’ve still enjoyed being here. It’s immense.

“There’s no doubt this one would be sweeter because of the challenges we’ve faced.

“Every title you win feels great in different ways.

“But there’s no doubt that with everything that’s gone on this year - to get over the line this time would be a significant achievement for sure."

Celtic head into Sunday's pivotal trip to Tynecastle on the back of arguably their best attacking performance of the season.

The Hoops dismantled a usually dogged Dundee on Wednesday night, winning 7-1 at Parkhead with seven different players on the scoresheet.

Despite Gers slipping up at Ibrox, Rodgers insists he's excited by the intense challenge posed by their neighbours.

He said: "It's brilliant, it's absolutely brilliant - isn't it?

"I was here last time when we were 30 points ahead and I had some people saying it wasn't very good.

"It's competition. We're here to compete and of course, if you do win by X amount of points, great.

"But if you win it by one point, that's great too as you still win.

"It's about winning and we're in this business and we take this pressure. Why? Because of competition.

"We're competitors and now we have a challenge.

"We lost the points. We lost the points and we have to gain them back.

"Now that message is very clear and now we're ready for the fight.

"At this stage of the season, it’s in front of you. The targets are simple because the 10 games will go like that.

    “It’s now game on."

I'm tired of the build-from-the-back approach. It works great with Pique, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi. Not so much with Scales dominating the ball, Iwata in the middle and Maeda on the wings. I wish we somehow returned to our direct style of play. Highly doubt it will happen under BR.

You cannot blame the manager for us missing a penalty, down to 10 men and them getting a dubious penalty

He got the team right, Idah has hit a shocker of a penalty. Just smash that if you go down the middle. BR can’t take the pen.

Ditto, can't watch this football anymore, actually I'm not even watching now after watching that 1st half. Instead of coming out blocks it was that usual pish.

The leagues done, and I want him out now, I'd sacrifice a few pumping now, out the cup to get him out if that's what it takes.

This football is awful yo watch, even if we were winning.

Take it we've had our one good performance for this half of the season then back to being utterly *.

Should have been away months ago. Anyone thinks we're winning anything with this muppet in charge need their heads examined.

Appalling BR subs today, not for first time
Taking midfielder of was suicide when MoR struggling and no CalMac and down to 10.
Just take of Maeda and put Kyogo on - pretty straightforward.

He's going to look like a bit of a * at the end of May when he's stood there with no trophies.

After giving it all that * about "see you in May" to the fans.

His subs were appalling, we need to win the midfield battle and we go down to 2?

We needed to go 3-5-1 get control of the midfield and minimise the space. He went complete gung ho with no control or idea, terrible tactics.
