Read Jim Radcliffes comments today about football side now taking priority over commercial side and saying a successful team on the park will lead to a successful commercial side.

Christ how we could use someone with that basic level of intelligence at our club just now.

    This.

And you can bet their * they do it... Again.

We could lose CCV, Hatate, MoR, maybe even Kyogo, and we'll get the standard 5-10% reinvestment in the position.

If you look at the likes of Ajax, PSV and Feynoord, it's pretty much how we SHOULD do things.
If they sell a player for Xm, the replacement is always around the 40-50% mark. At the very least, a third. The change is squirrelled away.

Look at this year alone PSV sold a defensive mid to the epl for 35m, replacement from serie a cost them 13m.

Feynoord sold a centre mid for 25m, replacement cost them 8m.

What do we do? Sell a player 30m, replacement won't cost more than 4m. Unless they've been trialed on a loan deal first.

Even if we do appear to spending money on an adequate replacement, the chances are they'll be either *, or won't get a look in; Nawrocki, Bernabei, Lagerbielke, Barkas etc.

The club needs gutted from top to bottom. Root and stem.
Even once Ange got all his preferred targets, and the Lawells reassumed transfer control, the hit rate dropped off a cliff again.

Desmond's out, Lawells out, board out, Rodgers out.

I'd take two or three years of trophyless pain if it meant we would come back as a competently run football club that wasn't getting * raped in Europe every year and could keep a Sevco side comprised of loanees and serial losers off their *.
But losing this title means that could be way * off.

This kind of fits in nicely with the duopoly argument. Say we win, go £120m ahead of rangers, invest well, and then go on to win the league for the next 5 years, no one will bother watching, meanwhile the women's football game grows and Sky invests more in that than the SPFL...Who will want to buy our league if we are the only team winning? Yet, let rangers get the £50/60m this year and it's all equal and we can hold off the woman's game for a bit

Will be taking a back seat in the summer when it comes to checking on transfer business etc. Cant be arsed with it anymore it’s just frustrating.

We ALL know exactly how it will go if we don’t win the league. We will be * about with the CL qualifiers and everyone will be getting raging, even make raging than the last 2 windows. We will go into the games with Bain, Ralston, MJ, Scales etc and we will not do any business beforehand until we know our fate. We have seen this movie before and it will definitely happen again as we are even more cautious with money than we’ve ever been, especially with this season potentially being our last in CL for a number of years.

Can avoid that if we just win the league but when it comes to replacing Hart , ORiley etc is still gonna be a shambles I feel even if we are in the CL.

Would rather be in the EL than the CL but obviously would rather win the league. If they win it and we don’t get in them it will be us who are behind financially which in insane when you look at last 10 years. I know we will still have the better books or whatever when it all comes out but it will be them investing heavily in their team which matters most to football fans.

Atlantic League stuff this morning makes grim reading. Pretty much embarassing Celtic saying they are happy to keep winning the SPL and cashing the CL money without improving the team.

Don’t know if this is something thats just been picked up as a figure out of todays report, but is it £12.9m player acquisition spent on it for real? That’ll include fees we’re paying up, some deals we’ve already done will also be in years after this but £12.9m. With the figures of the rest of money in the bank, money in the future from CL, fees coming from previous sales guaranteed coming in?

    £12.9m.

with £60m upty grabs? They made a statement about £29m or something like that as well I think but is it reflected in what they’ve also realised in the books?

And they pointed to * England. So of they’re no spending, we’ve got much less competition we’ve blamed for stopping us buying * for years, and they finish up saying lack of suitable players out there.

Who is finding suitable players for us? Mark Lawwell.

The first one out the * door should be Desmond. Guy is a * cancer.

Clear out? Don't make me laugh. He put Lawell on sabbatical, and left the back door open for when the fan anger at 10iar had subsided, back with a new title and a raise.

The Strachan's, the Lawells, the Desmond's .. club is * rancid with nepotism. And it all stems from Desmond.

A clearout of who though? Lawwell being brought back as a chairman, i doubt his clearout will match up with the clearout we want

I never get the Desmond stuff. He’s pretty much a safety net and says I want Celtic to be successful and self sufficient, and * off leaving everybody else there to decide how we do that. Until he gets * off sometimes and steps in and tries to do something or if there’s an Irish player he likes that we can sign he’ll step in to negotiate it, 2 Keane’s there.

Rest of the team he just makes sure we’re hitting the self sufficient target, sometimes funds us when we need it, got laws changed to fund Lennoxtown for us.

I want the guys that’s trusted on the day in day out how to carry out that plan changed.

Because who the * will come in if Desmond goes? Because it’s ripe for somecunt like Mike Ashley.

It's acquisition and retention. So the extended contracts for the likes of CalMac, CCV, Hatate, Ralston etc.

They claimed £23m was invested in playing squad. However as you say only £12.9m on player acquisitions. I think it was that guy on Twitter JBLoves or something like that who said he believed a big chunk of the difference there was the sell on due on Jota to Benfica. But I am not sure that is right as Benfica I think claimed that in their accounts that’s how people knew how much it actually was. It is likely some of it is add ons from other transfers or if there were signing on bonuses in the new deals agreed with the current players.

Also the cost of Iwata, Tilio and Holm were included in last years accounts.

The thing is even though we have less money in the bank than the summer a fair few of the underlying factors are now more on the positive, like our receivables are higher now than what we are due to pay others.

We will have our highest ever revenue this season likely, especially if we make the Scottish cup final and win the league, which looks a big ask how we are playing the now but still. We are on course for it. Probably no highest income unless O’Riley is sold before 30th of June but revenue will exceeded the £119m of last year.

Are you surprised though it basically hasn’t changed since Lawwell was brought in back In 2003. Beyond the fact Lawwell was acting like a defacto director of football he also liked to micro manage every facet of the club. Essentially most of the staff were just there to seek his permission to do anything.

It’s likely that is how we are still being run now as Nicholson seems a total walkover of a guy based on the limited he says.

In the summer did they not double or at least 25% increase what they pay the non exec directors? As well as Nicholson and McKay being given big pay hikes.
