Winning the title

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by stirfry999, Dec 10, 2023.

  1. We now must win both games against them, then we can afford only 1 loss. A normal realistic target with 11? Games left. The league is nowhere near over yet.

  2. We need to get behind the team - win lose or draw...

We are used to winning so this is new territory for most of the players and now more than ever the players need our support .

We can win the league BUT we must get behind the team to instill confidence and belief.

  3. Rangers are a very good team right now on good form, although they seem to be conceding a lot of equalisers. Surely only a matter of time before a team holds out and picks up a point

  4. Bunch of panic merchants. Rodgers is just pushing the odds up.

Will win by 8 points is his bet supposedly :50:.

Come on Celtic.....if we go on a run and win all our games,we win the league.....have we got the balls?

  5. There was another one as well, probably the most costly.

After we beat Feyenoord they should have announced the return of the Green Brigade the next day, built on the feelgood factor of finally winning a CL game for the first time in years with a late winner and got the fans back to kick on in the League before the break especially after the run of dire atmospheres at home at that point.

Instead they left it and Hearts came and done us 2-0.

  6. The banning of the fans coincided with our form collapse overall.

Despite not playing well we got a solid start minus being out the league cup. A home draw to St Johnstone and an away one to Hibs but 11 wins and 2 draws if replicated over the rest of the season would have comfortably won this title. Even if a couple of those draws were loses or another couple of draws.

Yeah form wasn’t great but still results were there and for domestic games the run of games from Livi on the 23rd of September to Aberdeen on the 12th of November saw us win 7 of 8, 5 of which were by 2 or more goals and one 0-0 draw with Hibs after an energy sapping performance against AM in the CL. We actually played relatively well in 2 of 3 CL games, the other was a hammering though.

From that point we have been a disgrace the four fixtures Motherwell (H), St j (A), Killie (A) and Hearts home was * poor and despite a mini revival over the next four we have been poor over our next four.

Interestingly, if you look at things that changed as form did, Hatate got injured and CCV got injured again.

Essentially we are 5 players down this season on last and of 11 signings only Palma has had any impact all be it an inconsistent one.

  7. The Huns are currently beating the 3rd-best team in the league 5-0. Can we finally put to bed this idea that we'll still win the league because they're s***e.

If we don't improve a ton, we will lose the league. The Huns aren't going to implode.

  8. Leagues aren't over in February

Still plenty of games left and the derbies will be crucial

  9. Need to win every game.

  10. I'm not saying the league's over. It's not over.

  11. Just can't see it, we should have romped it, 8 or so points ahead when Beale was sacked, Huns are now doing what we should be doing in swatting the rest away.

Im not giving up but I just don't see us not dropping anymore points, we're absolutely rotten at the moment.

  12. When do they have their European games? That's when they might have to rotate or risk fatigued players. But it all won't matter unless Rodgers cuts his own ego down and changes the tactical approach.

  13. Aye but plenty of people have

Call me what you want but I still believe we will win

  14. We can’t string two results together, never mind the performances to go with it.

I usually try to be optimistic but we’re not the team showing any consistency right now. We’re a mess.

  15. It's not over but if we drop one more point, I reckon it's as good as done. We have to match the huns point for point between now and April 7th. If we can beat them to go top, it might just all come together.

  16. Listening to a podcast earlier and they were talking about where it’s going wrong and whether it’s managers tactics or players underperforming.

For me, it’s both but if you look at certain things like how often we turn back the way when there’s an opportunity to go forward, that’s got to be the manager.

We are playing extremely negative and passive football.

The Huns are quite the opposite. Even when they’ve not blown team seats they play with a level of intensity and aggression that we don’t.

Teams are looking forward to playing us because we’re weak and devoid of confidence.

If the players don’t step up tomorrow and come out fighting then it’s curtains.

  17. Game at a time now but it looks unlikely given the momentum they have.

Keep saying it but we have mote work to do and things to turn in our favour for the end result in May to be positive, compared to them. They just need to keep doing what they're doing.

I would normally in this scenario still hold out a lot more hope than I do but having watched us this season I just struggle to see where people are getting their optimism from, other than blind faith.

  18. Lose tomorrow and imo its over.simples.HH

  19. Personally, I think they're favourites but that we're not out of it yet. I wouldn't put our chances above 25% at this point.
