Barrowfield redevelopment confirmed

I'd actually prefer if we didn't invest any more money on Lennoxtown or Barrowfield whilst Lawwell is involved at the club. I agree that we do need to drastically improve these facilities, but if we're doing it with that * casting his shadow over things, then you can bet your bottom dollar that the finished product will be substandard, done as cheaply as possible, and probably be out of date before it's even finished.

We'd be better binning these half-baked plans which have already been 'value engineered' according to one poster, and focusing on hounding that miserly bloodsucking * and a couple of others out !! Get some new blood in with fresh ideas and some ambition, get the first team back on track and then set out long term plans for a proper campus rather than a patchwork quilt of half-arsed developments scattered about.

 

You could have the greatest facilities in the world but if they are being coached by people based on their surname or what clubs they have been at in their career then it doesn't matter.

Unfortunately your most likely correct which is why I have been pushed over the tipping point so to speak this season and my level of contempt for Desmond and Lawwell really is total now. They are holding us back as a club and they have to go. We have other issues sure as a club but for me those 2 and their lapdogs on the board are a stain on the club and need to be shown by us as supporters the utter contempt we have for them and made to feel that detestation every time they step in the stadium until they * off and leave our club.

 

New training facilities? Point in that? It's not like they're giving the players a better canteen or anythin'.

What is the difference between Lennoxtown and Barrowfield and what is each facility used for?

 

Lennoxtown is for the 1st team and the B team that play in the Lowland league atm and Barrowfield for teh Academy teams and the womens team from what I understand.

Aye it can be difficult or very expensive to get the land area needed all in the same place for some of the more modern setups.

I was looking around on Google and in Spain for example (maybe the best at youth development) only one La Liga team have more than one training/development complex - Villarreal. Ajax also have one world class facility and so do the English clubs who have spent big like Chelsea. The FA's one facility seems to have been game changing for English youth set-up also.

It just seem madness in this day and age to not have everything under one roof. When have you ever heard of youth players saying they didn't like being near the first team? Never. Having bits here and bobs there is probably a factor in why our youth players have been more miss than hit for years now.

If the board are just going to hoard money and they should just spend big on this once and get it right instead of having it drag on for years.

I'm there most sat nights, place is coming along rapid.

 

If that is the frame going up and foundations are done, you will probably see it fly up even more in terms of the shell of the building. Those parts are the ones that normally take the longest to get going, also coming into better weather.

Is it still the plan that the B team and woman’s team use the outdoor facilities to host their matches now?

Bit of a * location for a training centre if I’m honest. Lennoxtown is stunning and excellent location away from the noise.

Suspect this will have a lot of trespassers given location unless they can seal it up big style
