They also sold Harry Maguire in Rodgers first full season, Chilwell in his second season, then Fofana and Schmeichel in his last season.

They were also massively trimming the squads in the last few seasons as well.

Sorry but again, really not sure how this removes Rodgers from any accountability for their downturn in performances & results? Every club that isn't Man City & Real Madrid will have their best players pinched by bigger/richer clubs, the manager is part of the recruitment process to replace those outgoing players.

If you think a board of directors are out there scouting and signing players without any input from the manager then you're living in dreamland. One player per year average isn't some huge turnover of players that a manager couldn't/can't possibly navigate.

If they keep selling their best assets, it makes it harder for any manager to maintain a level of success.

I wouldn't claim to know the in and outs of Leicester recruitment process, but if it's anything remotely like ours, then he'd have very little say.

Well his pal Lee Congerton got a job here and at Leicester as head of recruitment on his say so, hardly seems like he was frozen out of all transfer business if he's selecting a head of recruitment personally.

Regardless, we still have a far better team than the ones we have dropped points against. Not many other teams in the SPL can bring the likes of Nawrocki off the bench.
The only players in the celtic team thats of questionably quality is Bernabei and its because he is so erratic.
The rest simply are not playing close to the top of their game or performances that they are capable of.

I dont disagree, we are weaker from losing Mooy and Jota. I even argued at the time that Oh was a downgrade on GG. But Rodgers simply hasnt done a good enough job with what he has had. The drop off in some of the players performances has been alarming and the system he is persisting with does not work. We will drop more points if he doesnt make changes to it.

The point also remains, hardly any Rangers players would get into our starting XI. We have already beaten them in two head to heads, its against the rest of the SPL that we have struggled. Dessers has been their best striker this season which i think says it all. He isnt a touch on Kyogo.
They are not a particularly good side either this year, but the rest of the SPL is for me about as weak as its been in recent times.

Its just too easy to keep blaming Desmond, Lawell, recruitment. We know its been poor but thats done. Nothing can change until the summer.
But the noises coming from Rodgers dont match what we see and he has been hanging players out to dry instead of keeping them onside. His tactics have been brutal and he refuses to make any changes to his system other than to put two up top and try to play Kyogo off Idah because he knows the side cant get in behind.

That’s a change of direction from your first claim that it was only Fofana and Schmeichel. I don’t know enough about Leicester and their transfer dealings to be honest, but from the outside looking in, I always remember thinking the writing was on the wall for them as they were spending very little as their squad was getting smaller and weaker.

It can happen, you have a fair point there. Rodgers seems a bit burned out TBH. He really should have taken that year off to recharge his batteries. I think there's a noticeable difference since the winter break. Beforehand, we were boring as flip, but also finding ways to win; now we are literally getting outplayed.

The thing is, though, we mustn't let that cover over the last 3 windows. I would even go as far as to argue that Rodgers phoning it in and Rodgers not being backed even the tiniest bit are probably not totally unconnected.

Not for me it doesn't. I'd take quite a few of theirs over ours.

I'd take Butland over Hart. Scales and Goldson are 50/50 and I'd take their other CB over Welsh or Nawrocki. I'd take Tavernier over Ralston or AJ. I'd take their LB over Taylor and Morton under-18s' reserve LB over Bernabei. I'd take their DM over, oh, wait, we don't have one. I'd take one of their strikers over Idah or Oh. If we are playing each other or in Europe, I'd take Maeda over their wingers; but any other SPL game, I'd have one of their wingers over Maeda.

For us, I'd take Kyogo, McGregor, MOR and Palma:99: over theirs. Obvs CCV and Hatate if they could stay fit for 5 minutes; but CCV has missed more than half the season and Hatate has missed virtually all of it so no.

I don't think Rodgers ego will allow him to drift down through the lower half EPL .I feel he will take his phoney smile to the TV network and be the clever analyst who second guesses everyone else & shows how clever he is.

He was very much involved in the recruiting process alongside his buddy Congerton.

Dunno about that mate. They're no a good side but they have players just now that would walk in to ours..

Johnston is a shadow of the player he was. Couldn't cross the road. Looks slower. Tavernier would breeze in to ours just now..

Goldson or someone would get in to our starting 11 our defence is scandalously bad..

Our midfield is posted missing far too often. I don't watch them loads and haven't seen their new boy Diomande but hed probably get in over Bernardo or someone. Someone in their midfield would anyway..

Our wingers are laughably bad and out their depth. They'd easily get 1 on our wings..

Sadly we're no much better off than them with a full quota to choose from now, due to 2 shamelessly pathetic windows signing pish..

They have quite a bit more depth than we do now as well..

A disgrace it's come to this..

Both teams have had to manage through injury, Rangers have been plagued by injuries too mate, its not only us that have lost key players. Dessers was pish for them at the start of the season and then they lost Danilo for the season who was coming on to a game. Sima as well has been a huge loss for them as he was one of their main goal threats.

The only two id realistically take from Rangers is Tavernier and Butland.

But again, we have let them back into the title race because we let the performances drop after achieving an 8 point lead.
Even by their fans own admittance, they haven't played great football. Its not a great Rangers team at all.
We could in theory beat them in every head to head this season and still lose the league to them. Rodgers biggest deception would be having you believe we lost it due to lack of quality. If you watch the way we play, its clear the system hasnt been working but he is too stubborn/egotistical to change it.

Tavernier arguably because Johnston has taken a nose dive. When both are in form, Johnston all day long.

Goldson over CCV or Scales? Not for me.

Sima, potentially on the wing. Their other wingers are not better than ours.

On paper, we should be lightyears ahead of them. An embarrassment we're not.

Ours haven't hit any form whatsoever. There's are maxed out.
