Do you think a Treble winning season is not a good season?

To be fair, I think the point he's making is that despite winning the league the football was generally quite poor, which it was.

That year, the Huns finished with 70 points. We have 62 right now. We dropped points in more than 1 in 3 games, so every third weekend at best you had to watch a pishy 1-1 draw.

I kinda agree with him to be honest. Winning the league or even a treble isn't enough for me. Life is too hard to watch pish football every weekend just to have a party in May.

I know it can't be amazing every week but it's not spoiled to want to watch some decent football at the weekend. It's frankly not that difficult to produce considering the resources available to the Celtic manager, even if they aren't being backed sufficiently.

I suppose the takeaway is that 2017/2018 was objectively a very successful season, but subjectively not a good one, in my opinion.

Now here's the question you should ask me.

Would I take a double but it means Rodgers stays and the same dross football next season? :fear:

Im the same as you, I like good football over a season. I want to enjoy games and performances and if it ends in trophies great.

I hate pish boring football regardless of trophies.

You will get a laugh if we went on to win a Double and a wee bit of enjoyment but won't erase the dreadfullness of the season for me of watching absolutely shocking stuff every week and struggling to win a game. The season will be forgotten quickly.

I enjoy trophies 10x more when they are the result of quality football and can even enjoy seasons more even if we are just good compared to others.

Like Lennon's first season was better than probably all his other seasons and Deilas and one of Rodgers and a couple of Strachans even though I think we only won the Scottish Cup but its more memorable the football and players.

This season is as bad as Covid, Mowbray and probably Strachan's last 2 seasons.

With the same success? Yes, I would, as long as we’re building the club up behind the scenes whilst doing so because we desperately need that.

    Yeah.

A few have mentioned it on here but the last two years, even when struggling under Ange, you spent all day buzzing about every game. It's the complete opposite now. It feels like a chore.

It was the same in Rodgers second season.

The lack of goals in particular is dreadful. I pointed it out a couple of times on the forum, but there have been spells this season (amplified by International breaks etc.) where we have went weeks with only seeing Celtic score one or two goals and sometimes they've just been deflections or penalties.

Right now if we won this title I couldn't care if its 1-0 until the end with the baw continually bouncing off Bernabei's mullet from 1 yard out every time to secure it.

I'd accept a poorer level of football on the eye if it meant seeing it out dirty and gritty. The issue is we don't actually have that in us. We have a lightweight team that when the going gets tough and they're pressed or up against a more physical challenge, can't cope. We've had that for years but previously had certain players to get us out of it or we were playing so well that physicality didn't even matter.

Right now we are playing poor football that isn't getting results consistently. The worst combination.

Our midfield is a prime example. It's so unbalanced and isn't helping us through these tough games as for the most part we have ball players in there who are pretty one paced.

You're then pretty unbalanced at full back and have a host of wingers who don't have the correct combination of attributes required to churn out consistent performances. Then youve got a host of CBs that have been constantly rotated throughout a season with an aging GK who hasnt always instilled confidence behind them. That combined with strikers who have struggled for form and aren't always instinctive finishers and..aye. You get what we are currently watching and the results we are often producing.

A lot needs to change in a very short space of time in order for the end result in May to be a positive one and this is really where my pessimism at this point is stemming from.

He's tried every CB at the club beside Scales this season ... Still can't make his mind up
He's tried every CM at the club beside O'Riley and Mcgregor ... Currently Kyogo has the jersey which is likely to change
He's tried every winger at the club at the club ... Still can't make his mind up

That's just team selection that's not going in to his tactics and how it's clearly not suited to certain players.

This notion that just because we're at the * end of the season he's going to click our fingers and everything will be fine again is just blind faith.

He tried to create a faux positivity in the run up to the weekend speaking about how we had won X amount of games and all the negative narrative was just media spin then fast forward 48 hours we have players admitting to crisis meetings

For those who are in love.....
    This chancer still here?

There isn't a hope in * he can turn it around. He looks visibly rattled and shook on the touchline. Has no real clear identity of play anymore going forward, we know his pishy possession based football from the back and side to side is going nowhere. Tactically he's all over the place...this is a guy who was regularly flexible in game over and over with multiple switches and now resorts to 2 up top and Kyogo dropping or the most basic 4-3-3 with no an ounce of guile or creativity..

I cannot stand another second of him here. He's spectacularly failing us. He wasn't backed but the footballs been a disgrace with the quality he's still had at his disposal..

Everyone could see that result coming with 15 to go. Everyone could see we would drop points again soon. Everyone can see we've been winging it in plenty of games. Everyone can see we fall out our * in so many games, particularly late on. Everyone can see our press is pathetically bad. Everyone can see we canny keep weans out a close..

He's out his depth here and crumbling massively infront of us. That Leicester relegation has taken loads out of him and whatever the reasons for his failings here....he needs to * off so we can still salvage this..

    He makes me sick..

Everytime I team goes forward they look like scoring. We're creating barely fuckall half the time. We're * at everything. Penalties. Attacking set pieces. Defending them. Just anything really that's a bit different in open play we lack dynamism. Physicality..

We're utter * under this wee door stop useless *..

Brendan has an elite mentality or he would not be the man he is. He can turn this around. He might not but he definitely can. 99% of people roasting him couldn’t walk a day in his shoes. It’s easy to forget that if you just want him out.

No Celtic manager should receive anything but 100% support while managing the team. Winning is all that matters.

The massive push from our enemies to try and blow this season up just shows you how desperately they need this title.
Any genuine Celtic fans back the manager til the end of the season and take it from there. We cant change the fact we are entering March. This thread feels like people wanting the team to fail to say I told you so. Back the team sack the board.

What does backing the manager mean? Does it mean I can't say his football has been * all season?

How can people think it’s ok to talk like this ? Absolute car crash. Maybe when you are getting so emotional about football like this you need to step outside the bubble and ask if you are bringing your own problems into your relationship with Celtic. Shocking way to talk about the Celtic manager.

think it pretty much just means you don’t act like a hun. People can say what they like but there’s a tipping point where you are actively helping our enemies agenda. It’s crunch time black and white, fans need to back him or the league is done. Maybe we lose the league anyway but let’s not pile any more pressure. Especially when the anger should be directed at the board. I think fans not having any outlet to properly protest for boardroom changes makes Brendan the east target.

a Rodger’s fanboy lol. Yeah u need to step outside. I’m really not too fussed if Rodger’s stays or goes but I know fans getting off his back would make it easier to win the league so…
