He’s far from an empty jersey, his work rate made up for his lack of ability under Ange cause players around him were on form. Now we are looking to him to solve issues we all knew he never could, we missed him while away at Asia cup and there is no other winger in the squad that has actually consistently stepped upto the mark.

That is down to management & scouting, not Maeda.

He’s like having two full backs on the same side, defensively that side will be allot stronger but going forward it’s in-effective.

In the SPL there’s no need in most games to have someone like him.

 

Exactly. We need creativity to open up super defensive teams. Maeda has little. Offered zero today.

 

He 100% has his uses in tricky away games or games against Rangers but he should never be starting games like today he's so so so limited in terms of ability. That being said I wouldn't really trust any other winger to do any better

 

He was a man down today. We need wingers who can chip in with more goals than he’s doing.

 

His attitude and endeavour is class, no doubt.

But, do you think we get enough out of him in an attacking capacity, his primary function, to justify his place in the team?

 

Shave off 20% of that intensity and give him 20% more technical ability and you might have something approaching a Celtic winger.

 

I'll always respect him for his work-rate but the fact remains that he cannot trap, pass or cross a football to even a basic degree. So we either try him as a CF or forget him because he simply does not have the ability to play as a winger who is expected to both create and link-up play.

Squad option I'm fine with. Never a starter.

 

What about the games not against those opposition? Which is vast majority. Why do we need to fit him in, out of position, against Killie or St Mirren when he doesn't provide enough chances/goals?

 

I know you think that, but I'm struggling with the why we need him regardless? Clearly his intensity alone hasn't been a game changer for us in a while, particularly in these matches.

We need to use him right, that's the problem with him and kyogo. There will be games he's poor but that's usual for guys on the wing. He still gives 100%
