He's not awful and he's not brilliant. I don't think it's extreme to expect a Celtic player to have more technical ability than he has. But he is a useful squad option and excellent to have in specific situations.

Hes World Class in his workrate, but he's simple an awful player technically.

Was funny as when he did that good run in the 1st half and was clear my brother just said 'here goes' just before he crossed it. Unfortunately that's the norm. I'm actually pretty sure most of the players don't even bother getting into the box or dangerous positions as its usually the fans behind the goal that are preparing for the cross.

I just don't see it with him as a wide man any more.

How we have so many wingers on our books, but Maeda is first pick is a mystery.

Perhaps telling about * poor recruitment and the rest of them are.

I'd like to see him through the middle, any time he's been dangerous or got a goal, it's normally because he's happened to drift in to the middle and had some good instinct moments to knock the ball in.

But we won't play him there, so it's a no for me.

I know what you mean; but I genuinely don't think it's just about pace. For one thing, he's not all that lacking in terms of pace domestically (in Europe, maybe, it's possible his pace might be a problem) and he has enough pace to get past most SPL fullbacks as we saw at the weekend. The other thing is that he just always seems to want too many touches (this is what annoys me most) and sometimes I would even describe him as dawdling. These are decisions he is making and I think it really slows us down.

He was better against St Mirren and I think there's a good player there if he can play for the team a bit more.

I’m never disappointed to see Maeda in the starting lineup to be honest. Technically he is poor barring the odd moment, but his work rate is probably the best I’ve ever seen. He can set a tempo for us in terms of pressing and it can help us get the back in good areas. If you were the full back in his team, he is a dream for you. I’d love more goals and assists from him and for him to be better technically, but the fact is, if he done that, he wouldn’t be a Celtic player. I’ve always been a fan and I just think the good outweighs the bad. You can’t have a full team of technically gifted players, just like you can’t have a team full of Maeda’s.

True you can't have a team full of technical players. But don't you think the one area of our side where we should have technical players is in the front 3? Or 4? Particularly given the packed defences we come up against.

We should be looking to have those hard working players more so back the way towards Hart.

The thing I'll always feel with Maeda is that his main attributes are only suited to a specific number of games across the season.

I think he's always going to be a polarising player.

I get where you're coming from. I would agree with him taking too many touches tbh, he is also a bit greedy.

    Definitely things to work on.

Palma is the top assist maker in the whole league. He's frustrating, definitely, but he provides more than any other winger we have, by a long way.

It's not about that, though. I've never denied he's a good player who has a * of a pass on him at times. It's about the effect on the team. You can have good individual stats for the things you're good at and still be hurting the team in other ways through the individualistic way you play.

It was just friendly and all, but he looked so much more effective playing up top during preseason in Japan.

It seems unlikely to happen barring an injury crisis, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in that position in certain situations, especially of bench against tired defenders.

    Barely a footballer..

But sure we've long been aware of that and he'll continue to start.

Not gonna go over old ground. He's one of numerous issues.

We don't have a single wide player who contributes enough going forward.

Yet another game where he and others around him have contributed zilch. It's * ghastly to watch these guys attempt to play football and get paid thousands for it.

Getting sick of him. Having a wee chuckle to himself when he missed that first-half sitter. * me off even more.

Should never be a starting player for Celtic. But that goes for about 8 of them.

No point repeating it. But he's pretty useless domestically

An empty jersey. Reputed pace is a myth, rarely tries to go past a defender and takes the easy pass back option. No ball skills or technical ability whatsoever.
