Not gonna happen, but I'd try a 3-4-3 formation. We struggle to create chances. We need to spice things up. Wouldn't be against starting Vata over Kuhn.

I think the problem with 3 5 2 is you need a defensive midfielder in front, so you quickly have 4 at the back if 1 or both wing backs are further up the pitch. If Iwata was fit it would work, you could have Welsh -Nawrocki- Scales and Welsh and Scales could actually as makeshift FBS if needed.

The wings give me the fear. So 4 players who have never played together and of the 4 only Bernabei can actually cross the ball and other than Maeda give us no real defensive cover?

    Is Iwata available?

Not sure about Iwata. He was back in training last week. He may be good to go by now.

I basically replaced Bernardo with yet another winger in Yang. We gain in speed while we don't lose in creativity. Yang is a creative player in his own right.

I tend to agree with you with giving yang a shout, but is he not much more impressive off the left?.

Although he was one of our "better" players on Wednesday (which wouldn't be hard) I still can't believe that he"s starting another game for us. Another clear example of negligence in the January transfer win

3-5-2 won’t work because fundamentally you’re bringing in a third centre back and will therefore have one less attacking player.

Formation and lineup is generally fine. Not great, but should’ve been enough with the lead we had. It’s the way we play that is the problem. Far too slow and far too safe.

Count how many times it goes back or wide when we’re in possession and it’s clear what the problem is. Changing formation won’t help that, it’s an attitude problem.

That’s what needs to change starting tomorrow. Rodgers has never addressed this issue though, even his first time round. I can’t see him dealing with it now.

Expecting a boring grinding win tomorrow. Probably as much as my hope can stretch at the moment. Hopefully they got a bit of momentum from the hibs game and can carry that into tomorrow, but I feel like the best we can realistically hope for this season is to dig in, work hand, and grind out every win.

Kyogo and Idah from the start.

    McGregor and O'Reily CM.

    Nawrocki and Scales.

The rest gives me too much of the fear to write it out.

He's tried every single winger at the club this season and nobody has been consistent some of the players may be questionable but for me it's the tactics that need to change before anything else

We need a fast start like the last time. St Mirren may be more open at home, which would be ideal if our wide players show up.

Then again, they may sit in 1st half. Tactically, Aberdeen and Hibs allowed our CB's to have the ball, until we ran out of steam a bit, as our energy levels are not the same as last season.

That’s the XI that I think we’ll see. Would prefer two strikers but I don’t reckon we’ll get to the second-half. Would love if Iwata was back.

Probably also something in no getting a consistent run of games, with a consistent starting xi to gel with effecting that as well. But i agree we need a change, something to shake us out our reverie

First goal is essential v St Mirren, especially when they are at home.

They have won every single game this season at home when they manage to get their noses in front. In fact they've been so good when they score first at home, they have only conceded one goal (and it wasn't even an equalizer) and kept a clean sheet in every other game. Added to this, they have only conceded 1 goal in their 4 games since the winter break and coming into this on the back of 2 pretty comfortable wins - which is more than can be said for Celtic.

You could have 3-5-2 but when we're attacking the central of the 3 defenders steps forward into the defensive mid role and allows the 3 midfielders to go forward. We more or less play with 2 at the back now as our midfielders and FBs all go forward. It might be a bit dodgy at the back but might get us more goals which is our biggest problem.

I’ll start watching this with a lot of hope and within 20 mins that will just evaporate

have we turned a corner? Well that remains to be seen
