It just highlights how pathetic our transfer policy is, pay 3 million for the guy and give him 13K a week and he is deemed a donkey by management, why the * did we buy him?
You may as well burn money and at least someone will get some heat.

It’s just another convenient myth used by people to try and justify why players don’t want to play here.

We can pay a fortune compared to a lot of teams, even in the top leagues, outwith England.

13k is nowhere near one of our top earners but teams in the Serie A are coming out and saying they can’t afford it.

 

Apart from his red in the first CL game I don't think this guy has done much wrong.
After Saturday I'd have him in over Rocky all day long.

 

Mark lawwell clearly dined out well on what appears to be ange's good work. Ange got the credit no dou t for the Asian players brought in but the inference around the place that the rest was the recruitment team (jota/ccv etc).. now it appears that isn't the case and offering a lad 13 a week who wasnt planned on being first choice (considering our wage structure) is pure laziness and incompetence..

Lecce spent €23m this season on transfer with their biggest signings €4m and €5m.

€4-5m players must be getting good salaries.

 

To be fair to him his winning goal in the champions league probably covered his transfer fee.

As mentioned above, its an absolute myth that we can only afford a certain calibre of player. Half of the clubs outside the EPL are skint.

 

He was pretty average (being generous) in his initial few games. But so have plenty of others in fairness.

 

Other than obviously CCV, I see no difference in quality between the rest of the CBs.

This guys name will be etched in a random bit of history after getting the winner in the CL and then near enough disappears off the face of the earth.

 

For me Scales and Welsh are well ahead. Not sure between him and Nowrocki.

Gustaf Lagerbielke was sold from IF Elfsborg to Celtic in a record transfer this summer. After being named Defender of the Year in Allsvenskan 2023 and scoring a goal for the national team in the international match against Moldova at Friends, he also had a flying start to his career in Scotland


The Swede was given the start in the opening and played the first five games.

But after that, the Swede was completely kicked out of the squad by coach Brendan Rodgers and has only made a couple of short appearances in 2024. He has, however, managed to play in the Champions League, where he decided the meeting against Feyenoord with his 2-1 goal in stoppage time .

A loan move to Italian side Lecce was also close to going through on Deadline Day, but when Celtic suffered an injury in the back line, the Scottish giants
halted the move.

When Sportbladet calls up Lagerbielke, he is still in good spirits despite having only played nine games for Celtic since his arrival.

- It has been both and I would say. I enjoy Glasgow as a city very much and Celtic is a big club, which shows. Above all when it comes to the audience, the arena and everything around. I really have great opportunities to develop here.

- I have good teammates and feel that I have their trust. And it's been a learning time here where I feel like I've developed. The only thing missing is playing time, he says

Have you received any explanation as to why you are not playing?

- No, I don't really have that. Right now I feel like I'm really in the shape of my life. I am significantly stronger and faster than ever and also mentally, for a long time, I have worked up a stable foundation that provides security. Then of course it's frustrating that I don't get to show it every week because I know I had delivered.

- But there is nothing else to do but rub it in and keep going. As I said, I enjoy myself here.


You played a lot of games straight away, how do you see it?

- Yes, I guess I had to play second the day I arrived, so I was thrown into it straight away.

- Then there is fierce competition and we win most matches and there are very talented players with whom I compete. So I have to go ahead and show that I'm going to play.

You were close to leaving for Lecce last winter, what happened there?

- There were many clubs that were interested, but then there was an injury situation in the club which meant that nothing came of it.


It was Celtic who stopped you?

- Yes, it was. It was canceled because we got an injury.

What do you say about the future now, can you leave this summer instead?

- So right now the focus is on training as well as possible and continuing to show that I will play. We can still win the double as we fight with Rangers for the league title and stay in the cup as well.

- So there are two titles to play for. I want to play and will do everything in my power to help the team. At the same time, I know that I can play in the best leagues, so it is a situation we will review after the season

 

Been treated very harshly and not done a lot wrong. Kept 5 clean sheets in the games he's played, scored a vital CL goal that got us our only win.

Swedish young player of the year I'm sure and plays for the national team.

He's also deemed slow...watching Welsh at the weekend that's a very very harsh judgement.

We've messed him about in all honesty. Should be given a fair chance cause if CCV is.out for Ibrox, then absolutely no chance our starting CBs should be Scales and Welsh.

 

Having watched Scales and Welsh on Sunday id be willing to give him another chance

 

I can't believe Rodgers would watch Scales and Welsh on Sunday and not think to give him a chance. Seems mental.
