His lack of pace was brutally exposed 2nd half and isn't good enough on the ball to be a starting cb for us going forward

He escapes a stupid amount of criticism.

Grand old team to play for
He was poor today. Don't even know where he was for the Aberdeen goal. And in injury time Khun was in an acre of space, instead of being.brave and playing a tricky diagonal, he took the 'safe' option and played an easy forward pass, made an * of it and we lost the ball.

Need to remember, Scales is having a great season for the level of player he is.

He's a squad rotational player at best though for us - I mean with with zero disrespect meant.

But we are relying on him as quite literally the first defenders name on the team sheet.
    * minus Hart and McGregor, he very well may be the next name on the sheet.

All credit to him for stepping up. But he's not the level required to ensure games like today don't happen or to be ambitious in Europe.

    Was definitely poor today..

Tried to play offside first half when Nawrocki was miles behind and luckily it went through to Hart. That one with Miovski outpacing him was toe curling..

Took way too long on the ball as well..

A shattered Miovski who had played up front on his own, out sprinted Scales, who had 2 yards on him.
    That doesn't look good.
He has been decent recently though.

Scales has been one of our better players this season, and has rightly deserved his place in the team. Take nothing away from him, but he still should have only been a temporary fix at CB in August, not still a guaranteed starter come February.

Like I said he has earned that place, but as a team that, as we are constantly being fed, are striving to improve, then he isn't the answer.

I'd put him at LB on Wednesday against hibs though as he's better than Bernabei, and I'd put Lagerbielke back in.

Scales has definitely come on this season and played his part. But the truth is, and this goes for many in the first XI - he's nothing better than a squad player.

The likes of Scales, Taylor, Nawrocki, Bernardo, Palma, and Abada are all players who we should look at coming on from the bench and being satisfied with. They're all back-up quality players featuring in our strongest possible XI.

That's another damning indictment of the board.

As good as he's been this season, he's a huge downgrade from Starfelt.

And I wasn't necessarily Starfelt's biggest fan. But night and day in quality. Just another indictment of how much we've regressed this season.

I agree he was poor but that was Nawrocki’s fault, Scales was in line with the two full backs, Nawrocki needed to be alert and step up quicker.

Aside from that though I thought he was *. Nowhere near aggressive enough, standing off strikers and letting them turn, and just generally not imposing himself.

Rodgers mentioned the lack of aggression in our defending in his post match interview on Sky. He didn’t name anyone but Scales was definitely a major culprit.

None of the back four got pass marks for me. Aberdeen looked like scoring any time they went forward in the second half. * embarrassing performance.

Just like Ralston and Taylor before him.. never thought they had the form in them to go through such an elevated purple patch but at the same time it is evident we can and should be doing better than having guys like these in the regular starting 11.

Yep, solid reliable guy that you can trust to bring in every now and again when there's an injury.

He's hot bit down the list of problems but if theres any ambition left at the club he can't be a starter next season.

The fact that he has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet should tell you all you need to know about where we’re at.

It's not good to see this thread turn on Scales, but the fans have been guilty of sleepwalking into this.

When we were winning his mistakes were covered up and overlooked. The praise he was getting for his performances was unjustified. Fans wanted him to be a first team pick. He's still playing at the same level, but only now are his mistakes being highlighted.

We have to stop the wild swings between over hyping players and then turning on them.

When CCV is back he need moved to left back. Personally he's always been decent on the left and even scored when given the chance.

Would be as well playing with his back to the oppositions goal the amount of times he turns back.

As someone said above, the fact we are relying on him in our starting 11 shows exactly where we are as a club.
