Thanks Pete, :50:, I actually got a better view of it on the way home but i was in moving traffic and had my gear packed away in the back of my van, i'm kicking myself now for not pulling over and getting in a few more shots.:87:

Me and Ruby Roo are back in the Highlands April17-24th and we cannot wait. We look forward to our reports on how we get on for you all all and maybe the odd visit to the local butcher, Ruby Roo loves there of course:49: And the odd wee dram of course.

I will do a wee list of our target species nearer the time.

I spent Saturday morning out in Hazelwood forest hoping for a few decent shots of the birdlife there, i had baited a tree stump with nuts and seeds when i got there but not one bird visited, i could hear plenty birdsong all around and could see a few in the trees but couldn't get a clear shot, i watched this wee Red scampering around the canopy and come on to the ground now and again to gather bedding for his/her nest. i've been leaving peanuts,a few slices of apple and bird seed on the tree stump since, and it's gone the following day, i'll keep it up for the rest of the week and have another go at the weekend.

A few from the weekend in Hazelwood forest, I carried on leaving nuts and seeds on the tree stump during the week to see what was taking it, i had 2 long sessions in the hide but apart from the birds in the pics paying the odd visit there was nothing else to be seen around the stump, i'm starting to think the bait is being taken after dark, by what i don't know, i might buy a trail cam and put it up on a nearby tree for a night just to satisfy my obsessive curiosity :56:. rsz_20240216-4s1a7555-edit.jpg rsz_20240216-4s1a7573-edit.jpg rsz_20240216-4s1a7585-edit.jpg rsz_20240216-4s1a7603-edit.jpg 20240216-4S1A7642-Edit.jpg

Recent highlights i have seen including the local male Peregrine flying over my housing estate late this morning and shortly after a Raven croaked as it flew over my house. There are real signs of spring with a blackcap singing on my local patch this morning and another in my garden on Monday morning.

Oh and last Thursday the local female Kestrel was seen on my local patch. I hope to report for often on my sightings, it has been my quietest start to a year for some time.
