Alistair Johnston

I wonder if part of it is down to Ange having such clearly defined roles in his system. Especially in the build up, everybody knows where they should be and what they should be doing in relation to their teammates, because a lot of it is very orchestrated. That probably benefits and simplifies the game for a player like Johnston, who has somewhat limited ability.

I remember one of the Celtic podcasts talking about this and suggesting that on the other hand, Rodgers' less rigid approach may explain why O'Riley is so improved from last season. Unlike Johnson and a few others, he has a higher level of ability and decision making, and can flourish given more freedom in Rodgers' system, as opposed to being a bit stifled under Ange.

 

Is it actually Johnston? Not sure if that makes it more or less odd?

 

Watching this guy hit cross after cross behind players and never picking a man out is infuriating..

 

Brutal, slows the game down and goes backwards more often than not.

 

Would like to see Ralston get some game time to give him some competition..

 

Pleased to see him get a goal even though it was a fluke.

 

He needs competition but it's not coming from Ralston. The reason Johnston is still in the team despite being * week in week out is bcoz his only competition is Ralston.

 

I know he scored our winning goal today but he offers basically nothing in an attacking sense. Also a shadow of the player he looked last season under Ange, I'd be giving Ralston a run at some point.

 

So if that’s the case, empty him in the summer and bring in a new RB. Ralston is good enough for the majority of the SPFL dross we play and he accepts being 2nd choice.

 

I still think barring 1 daft miss kick in a friendly v bilbao Iwata looked a good option at rb but * knows where he is

 

Once again, offering so little attacking wise. If we had a settled fir back 4, I would be all for dropping him for Ralston.

i wonder if we had scored that goal in the last minute rather than the first would the reaction have been the same ,i get that a lot of the negativity is down to the lack of transfers and we were pish no doubt about but 3pts is 3pts that deflected goal and win could be the difference at the end of the year

 

If, massive IF, we were a competently run club we should be actively looking for his replacement with thr aim of punting him in the summer bcoz he's * gash.

 

If we was a competently ran club, we would have hired a manager in the summer who would have played a similar style to Ange, this able to get the best out of the players we had - where AJ would look decent still.

You shouldn't talk sense mate. According to some on here, its upto the players to change and nothing at all to do with the manager and his tactics.

 

add RB to the list that needs strengthening cause AJ has been dire this year. the competition will not come from Ralston.
