What everybody expects is never going to happen. We buy players for 2.5 million and sell them for 10 times the profit compare that to our highest fee paid for Odsonne Edouard, we were lucky to sell him for a profit with not long left of his contact. Which makes more sense from a financial point of view? We have a model that works which takes advantage of our position 100%. I think we are lucky in that respect

 

Don't think there was any luck making profit on Eduoard at all. We signed a promising prospect from psg after getting a good look at him on loan. If anything the Eduoard signing, should going showcased how the model can work on a bigger scale. Rather than buying a player for £2M and hope to sell for £10M plus, buy a £10M player and sell for £20M - it is within our financial capability and completely feesable

 

We need to look at loan to buys more often. We have gotten Eddy, CCV and Jota. Bernardo looks good too. They come with little risk because if they are * you send them back.

£10 million doesn't necessarily buy a better player though. Is O'Reilly worth only 10 mil? Or Abada? They are cheap players who's value skyrocket under the right conditions, margin for profit is greater and there is little risk with wages included as apposed to a big risk. What if the 10 million guy is not up to it?
I see your point of view and I agree, always have wanted better for us in Europe and I wished we showed more ambition, i just think that times have changed and although the gap is wider we are still in a good position in this climate to grow. I just dont think the pressure on the board makes much difference with this considered tbh.

Whilst you are right to a degree for every orieley or abada there is a Yang or tilio. In my mind the last two strikers we were willing to fork out £10M for were Ivan Toney and odsonne Eduoard. Eduoard we sold for £20M plus and Christ knows how much we would have sold Toney for if we landed him.
