Why do people say that before completely disrespecting someone? Nawrocki has been fit for a while and we bought him for a reason. Meanwhile Scales hasn't been "largely excellent" for months.

Correct. He's been our best player, bar none.

It's hard to say as we haven't seen enough of Nawrocki to judge; but if he's not better than Scales, we shouldn't be paying 5 million euros for him.

I meant who in the team has been better than Scales this season. O'Riley possibly, but that's it for me.

You said a really silly statement, so I responded, but meant no disrespect with my post, simple :50:

I see. Over the whole season? O'Riley and McGregor. In Europe? O'Riley, McGregor and Maeda. In the past few months? O'Riley, McGregor and Bernardo.

So in our top 4 players in any case but you don't rate him?

    Is our squad that bad?

    Really????

McGregor, unlike him, was really poor first 15 games of the league, so find that a bit bizarre, Bernardo, is looking promising now but only because of 3 good games recently. Maeda I like, but no way.

O'Riley yes, CCV if he's been more available, but he's not and even then there is a case for Scales.

Yes, in terms of who we've been able to play, anyway.

I wouldn't say I don't rate him, I was probably a bit unfair above. I thought he was outstanding for a while in the autumn and it would have been very unfair to drop him back then. I just think his form has dropped to merely "decent" for several months now and so I'd like to see Nawrocki given a run. That doesn't mean I don't think Scales will be back; it just means that if he wants to cement the place as his, IMO he needs to recapture and keep his form of last autumn.

Yes, really. I stand by all of that. Also, Maeda in Europe was unbelievable IMHO.

Do you think I'm wrong in my responses?

Love Maeda for what he can do sometimes, he was great in Europe, but that's our least successful arena, so least relevant in my opinion.

If we had signed Liam Scales in the summer from a team down south he wouldn't get anywhere near the level of criticism he receives. He's getting starts as he doesn't deserve to be dropped he has been our best defender by a country mile this season

I like Scales but you're all doing with him what you did with Taylor last year and overhyping him. He's overperformed based on our initally low expectations and that's great. But he isn't as good as CCV or Starfelt or a myriad of other CBs we've had over the years. We should be aiming for a better calibre of player once other areas of the squad are addressed because he won't cut it at a European level.

He absolutely won't cut it at a European level, but who in our current squad would? O'Riley (gone in the summer), CCV and Kyogo, possibly Hatate, and that's it. So not sure that's a huge criticism.

That's a realistic assessment. As long as we're making a distinction between a player who's in good form for the level he's capable of, despite having a lower ceiling than other players in the squad, then I'm fine with praise for him. I just don't want us to hype ourselves into seeing him as a starter in the long run, he needs upgraded as well, unfortunately.

Keep saying it about Liam, needs to be braver when running out with the ball. Sometimes he carries the ball out, theres space in front of him but he just checks.

Taylor actually had a season where he was a POTY candidate, Scales isn’t providing anywhere near that level of performance.
