Apparently it was a loan fee now, and then payments that could reach £20M.

    * off!!!! If we are to sell we should be saying £30M starting fee.

£30m should be the starting fee. But this poverty mindset club would take £20-25m including add ons.

How much money we get is meaningless because we won't spend it. Hopefully Brendan demands we keep him.

Maybe he thinks he has enough money & he'd rather stay with us because we're Celtic.

Anyway, I'm away to bury my head in a sandy beach.

Joe Ledley left right before the close of the window. Maybe not as important as what O’Riley is to us at present, but he was a mainstay, had experience and was a leader in the team.

It was believed to be the final straw for Lennon who wanted to keep him.

This, alongside the Abada loan chatter, has the feeling of a leak designed to lesson the blow of no further significant arrivals when neither of them leave.

    "We kept our best players!"

    Hope I'm wrong.

I’m confident we still win the league keeping them both with no new arrivals. Less so if we let MOR leave - will still be a terrible window and doesn’t get the board off the hook but I’m taking that option right now rather than them leaving and getting unknowns in as replacements.

Used to soften the blow a bit for me seeing the profit coming in on these players and what it might do for the club going forward but these days you just know it won’t be reinvested properly in the squad which is criminal.

The strange thing for me is Rodgers seemingly putting up with this given what happened last time - maybe we’ll see his mood change if things don’t change before the window shuts

Don't think MoR will leave this window
but if he does, we are in big trouble given the goals, assists and chances created - irreplaceable.

That was lawwell btw, lenny and Joe have confirmed he was close to signing the deal, a few points needed ironed out but we played a game at home on the Wednesday night and on the Thursday they where training and lawwell appeared at Lennoxtown and told ledley to get to * to Palace offer accepted and our contract offer was off the table.

Lenny then went to lawwell in the march to ask what his budget was for season 2014/15 and despite 2 back to back UCL qualification was told to sell VVD that summer to fund any deals. Also Sammy was told he was offski again by lawwell

He's been * hot this season, but we hear this literally every time a good player leaves, nobody is irreplaceable. As much as I hope he stays til summer, having a first choice middle 3 of McGregor, Hatate and Bernardo doesn't exactly give me the fear for the second half of the season.

All of which he will get in the summer when an offer comes in for him. We will probably be telling him he will be allowed to go in the summer as well but he is too important to lose at this stage, which O’Riley will know as well as he isn’t a daft lad.

Be a massive loss if he goes. I like Bernardo and he's starting to show why we should consider buying him but he's just not on O'Riley's level at this point in time.

Bernardo is promising, has been very good for most recent 3 or 4 games from about 15-20.
He may well get there, but he's not (yet) in O'Reilly's league.
Hattate injury record not wonderful either - if we end up with McGregor, Bernardo and maybe Iwata or Holm - that's a problem.
Don't event want to think about the bench / subs that would back those 3 up.

Spanish clubs are pretty skint. I'd be surprised if even atletico paid what we want up front.

    Signing vermeeren anyway.

Let’s not lie btw. Bernardo, Hatate and McGregor have more than enough quality to win the league. It’s not ideal but lets be honest.

We will more than likely lose O’Riley in the Summer. As usual someone else will step up.

Hatate has struggled to stay fit and even show consistent form when fit, for a while though.

Oriley has 17 goal contributions. Losing him would be a massive issue second half of the season in current form.

As much as I like Bernardo as well he's still got to show this over a sustained period of time e.g contributing goals and assists wise. Confident he will but i can't say it with as much certainty as MOR for instance.

Very few teams sell their best players middle of the season. Would be horrific. Agree he will be off in the summer, which is fine.

    It would be horrendous.

Playing Russian Roulette with the league.

But if that midfield 3 stay fit and we lose the league it’s an absolute bottle job.

o'riley ,mcgregor and scales have been the only ones showing up this season, the rest have been very inconsistant ,i will be * raging if he is sold .* would put a £20 m sale over winning the league in a heartbeat

Atletico Madrid are prepared to shell out £20million to land Matt O'Riley from Celtic in the summer.

Hamstrung by Financial Fair Play considerations, the Spanish giants want to sign the Parkhead midfielder on loan this month with an obligation to buy in the summer.

Mail Sport understands, however, that English Premier League sides are preparing to trigger a bidding war for the Danish international in the final week of the window.

While 23-year-old O'Riley is flattered by the interest of Diego Simeone, he won't push for a move.

And, with little time left to line up a replacement before the end of January, Celtic have no desire to lose the man who has been their strongest performer this season.
