Mikey Johnston is awaiting the green-light from Celtic to head back out on loan this month.

The winger, 24, has hopes of moving out once more after a previous loan at Vitoria Guimarães last season. His return to Parkhead under manager Brendan Rodgers saw him feature 11 times this campaign so far but the Irishman wants consistent game time and Football Scotland understands he's waiting on the go-ahead from Rodgers to make his exit




West Brom in the EFL Championship are believed to be keen on taking the wideman to the Hawthorns as they chase promotion to the Premier League. Carlos Corberán's side sit fifth in the table at the moment and hope the international attacker can provide another option in their attacking set-up.

Johnston enjoyed his loan in Portugal last term and played 31 times, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

 

Be a good move for him and can potentially turn to a permanent or atleast get interest from other championship clubs. Get it done

Aye but the article says he’s waiting on the green light from us to sign the loan deal with WBA. So, it’s like the club are waiting to get him out the door, even for 6 months.

I agree about the permanent deal, I think it’s unlikely this window but a good period down there means we might be able to get some cash for him in the summer.

I agree and disagree. There's some shockingly bad full backs starting games in that division that have made some pretty average wingers look like Ronaldinho lol.

how long has he left on his contract ? i thought it was due to run out in the summer please say he hasnt another year (or longer)

 

That worries me in that he is seen as needed incase Abada goes.

You would think we were looking to downsize the club without there actually being a need to.

I was thinking back and it has been back to Strachan days since the only time we managed to qualify for CL 3 years in a row. Every time we get to a decent position we know we will lose our better players that’s the world we live in but don’t ever seem to realise it.

The fact it took us the full summer window to find a Jota replacement was madness. It was clear before Rodgers came in all we had been looking at was young guys playing in Korea and Holm from Norway who at least looks a talent.

Why do we not have a shortlist of targets for each position ready to go? No goalkeepers, left backs or strikers despite us screaming for them.

Someone that doesn’t know the first thing about football could see offers coming for O’Riley or Hatate from the start of the 22/23 season.

Just dont think we should be considering this with the uncertainty around Abada.

He's not going to ever be of the required standard, as proved by his recent run. Always wee flashes of decency spoiled by a majority of nothingness.
