It would be a loan only in name. It’s a transfer.

If that’s true and the fee is what we are looking for I could see him being off. Not saying he would force it through or anything but I think he would speak to the club and say this is an opportunity too good to turn down.

Athletico are genuinely one of few teams in world football capable of making it to the latter stages of CL and also competing at the top of La Liga as well. He goes there he will automatically go to the euros with Denmark too.

We better be asking for top money here though £30m and a sell on. Although I saw FFP mentioned above it shouldn’t be an issue for them as they are €65m up from transfer activity this season so far. Maybe they are planning a bit of a spending spree.

It will be hard to turn down AM and I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to go, massive club. Any idea or rumour on the fee, not that we will reinvest much of it?

It would still be stupid, we'd essentially be letting him go now and potentially cost us the season. There will be interest in him in June still, and if he plays for Denmark at the Euros his value will likely rise.

Aye I thought I was seeing things too mate, but apparently there’s clubs out there that actually strengthen their team each window and are proactive about it.

I’ll need to check there’s no father/son dynasty running transfers at Atletico though … maybe if there is they’ll make an * of the deal and MOR will stay.

We can rebuff the bid and we should but the problem with Atletico or teams of that ilk is the head turning aspect, tail end of Champions League and competing for La Liga every season is elite level.

Best thing that could happen to us now is a multitude of other clubs also come in and his price is drove up.

I'm all for matt taking the opportunity but has to be the summer unless your talking about the obligation now being +35 million pounds

Aye but technically we wouldn’t receive any fee until the obligation to buy was met? And also are they still bound by contract to pay the fee if he gets injured etc?

Regardless, it’s stupid letting him go now with the CL money up for grabs, when clubs will probably still be after him in the Summer.

Would rather it was an arranged transfer at the end of the season.

The bigger picture is that the winning the league is huge this season in giving automatic Champions League qualification with the increase in guaranteed prize money.

I can see the bid being accepted and us buying Bernardo outright which I dont think will be the right thing to do right now.

Unless Atletico make us a huge bid that we cant refuse, id say we stay firm and hang on to one of our prized assets for the moment.

I agree in theory but in practice, Matt is going to be * if we don’t allow him to go to Atletico. That offer may never come again for him. They’re a massive club and very relevant among the elite in Europe. Players hold all the power these days. It’s best to sell if we get the right money. No way should we be taking any less than £30m though. If they’re serious, pay up.

They could pay X amount up front as a loan fee. And yes regardless of injuries they’re obliged to buy.

    Board hedging their bets..

Sell him for 30 million, doesn't matter about the CL cash we have the MOR money

Don't sell him now and win the league we can double the money in the summer.. CL and MOR money.

Either way he's getting sold its just a matter of how the board view the risk.

I'm worried.. our board don't do risk.

To me it makes no sense selling him now because we will get the money in the summer for him. Unless of course He pushes for it and as I said I wouldn't blame him.

It would be suicide to sell him just now.

Wouldn't surprise me with this board, probably be saying, right we'll take this money and huns can get their whack by taking the league. Both sides happy, don't want to step too far ahead of them.
