Be as simple as a clause in his contract mate.

‘‘If any players are forced on the manager against his explicit wishes, BR can null and void the contract, with all payment due from remaining contract to BR’’

If it was that much an issue last time, and it * was, he’d be a silly boy to just say ‘well they told me they wouldn’t this time’ and not protect himself. Not even him infact, he’d need a donkey of an agent as well.

Rapid Vienna aren't taking any risks with Nicolas Kuhn to ensure his imminent move to Celtic is rubber-stamped.

The German wide man is set to become Brendan Rodgers' first signing of the January window and the two clubs continue to negotiate a fee ahead of a switch to Glasgow. Rodgers is keen to add more quality in the wide areas despite already having an abundance of wingers, and reckons the versatile former Ajax and Bayern Munich man is of the standard required.

A deal is expected to happen, but the Austrian club aren't quite ready to sign off on Kuhn's departure as the financial specifics are still being worked out. The Premiership champions have reportedly upped their bid to £2.8million but Rapid are holding out for £3m. Kuhn didn't take part in full training with the rest of the Rapid squad on Friday. They take on Weiner SC in a friendly this afternoon. But Kuhn won't feature, as confirmed by head coach Robert Klauss.

He told Kurier: “If there was a league game, both Kongolo and Kühn could play. But we don’t want to risk anything.

They also report that the player is being as careful as possible. He's all for joining Celtic and won't jeopardise his big move by risking injury in a warm up game.

Sorry mate but that just isn’t going to happen. It’s incredibly naive to think a club would put that type of clause in their managers’ contract.

    Especially a club like Celtic.

The Huddle Breakdown podcaster did a profile of him on twitter and to be fair this guy hit it pretty bang on with Nawrocki, Lagerbielke and Yang in the summer when profiling them. He felt they were strange signings that didn't suit. I thought he was a bit of a twitter *. He has been proved correct since. He profiled Kuhn and felt that he had a lot of good attributes that should suit us. We need depth in the wide positions- with Maeda, Palma, Abada and Kuhn I would suggest we have some good options.

Then he’d know they have no intention of sticking to what they’ve agreed, and you don’t return.

I’ve hammed that up a bit as an exaggeration but you can absolutely make sure you outline your working conditions in a contract

He’s pretty decent him, bit too stats are gospel and no room for any nuance that you see with your own eyes that might be a bit harder to put on paper, but generally a real decent guide to what to expect.

Frustrating that we seem allergic to spending a bit of money but hopefully he’s a gem. Looks decent in his clips and seems pretty 2 footed

I never get the money thing. If we spent £10m on this guy would it be less frustrating?

£3.5m is a bit of money for us though. Usually its a few 500k punts :56:

I don’t watch the huddle but out of interest who was it that did the profiling? Reason i ask is 20mt have a euro scout Alex Barker and he is usually bang on with our new recruits aswell. Gets you wondering why the club don’t hire someone like that…

We’ve got 70m+ in the bank mate. I just want us to show a bit of intent and put 20-30m into the team. This transfer doesn’t show that intent but in isolation I have no problem with it. It just seems the board are content with trying to stay just ahead of the huns. Again.

The frustrating thing isn’t signing Kuhn. It’s the idea that we’ve probably identified other players we want but decided against it because they would cost double to triple his price.

£3m is decent ish money for us aye.

Kinda sums up the market we are working in. It's a pittance in modern football.

The thing that annoys me as that prices have risen but we haven't changed what we're willing to spend on players.

Honestly I think we have a glass ceiling on what we can pay, to attract those guys in Scotland that could go play for a top team in like Netherlands or Portugal or Belgium. Or paid a fortune, more than we can afford at a West Ham or something like that.

It’ll be a rarity that guys like that would see our interest and sign up right away. They might hedge there bets and trail as along to assess their options, and when we need to get guys through the door, that’s a balancing act at that point isn’t it? Stick or twist…
