The Hurricane. Denzel on top form. Plus that actress in it is beautiful. Debora Kara Unger I believe. 8/10

Saltburn, thought it was superb with great acting throughout the cast. Couple of good shock value moments too:55:

It felt very much like 'The Talented Mr Ripley' for mine.

If you've not seen it, check it out, would be curious to hear what you think.

    One Life

Well worth checking out. Have sat through this twice now and it has brought a tear to my eye both times. I honestly can't think of the last time a movie did that for me. Once, yeah, it happens now and then, maybe once every couple of years, but probably the first film in close to 30 years that a repeat viewing has still had that same impact and effect.

    Priscella

Sofia Coppella's biopic makes for a fanscinating companion piece to Baz Luhrmann's Elvis from a year or two ago. That with all it's glitz and glamour, this with its much more grounded feel. That with the toxic exploitation of the man's public persona, this with the toxic exploitation of the private life. Most i've been impressed with Cailee Spaeny in a movie (but in fairness most of her previous work has been very much a supporting role compared to the lead here).

    Aquaman 2: The Lost Kingdom

Biff, bash in the splish, splash! = A whole lot of meh. Another comic book movie that just feels so cookie cutter at this point. Kind of liked the first one, but this just felt so boring, genuinely found it a struggle to keep paying attention.

I saw a few reviews saying that too, haven't seen it myself but will have to give it a go and get back to you. Which do you prefer yourself?

Watched a few films over Xmas period.

Thought Oppenheimer was brilliant. Took a while to get round to it because of the run time, but I didn't find it dragging at all; thought it was all really interesting and great performances throughout.

Also thought Air was really good, and Saltburn was decent. Barry Keoghan been a few good shows and films in recent years, Chernobyl, Banshees of Inisherin etc, and Calm with Horses was alright.

The Killer with Michael Fassbender was worth a watch. Other decent watches were Dumb Money, and Society of the Snow. Same story as Alive, about the Uruguayan rugby team that crashes in the Andes. Good film, although probably preferred the original Alive movie.

Didn't think much of Leave the World Behind, and although the effects were cool at points, thought The Creator was pretty dire.

Gonnae try and get round to Killers of the Flower Moon next.

    Saltburn

Thought it was good. Very well directed and shot with great performances. Couple of proper weird as * scenes but would recommend it.

Jacob Elordi will be one of the next big Hollywood actors.

Saltburn ..............kept thinking it would get better but never did, was waiting for some brilliant twist that never arrived, style over substance for a movie that never really went anywhere 4/10.

Well he is dead ,,so it would be poor acting in the film.

    In his words .....

Jason Statham doing Jason Statham-y type things. If you're looking for meaningful story, character development or dialogue then you're in the wrong place. But if you're wanting a revenge action flick that doesn't outstay it's welcome too much then this could well be your cup of tea. No idea why Jeremy Irons was cast though, because really there is nothing that requires an actor of his quality or gravitas here. Overall, feels a bit John Wick-esque from director David Ayers, and have sat through a lot that've been far, far worse.

Probably give it 7/10 for the nostalgia factor and I quite enjoyed Jim Carrey and Idris Elba in it.
