    Why??

If he's only scored 5 goals in 30 games in LOI he's never making it here. Most Scottish championship teams would likely turn their nose up at it. Look how poor the last Ireland u21 striker did in championship. Afolabi or something.

Given those stats we should be greatful shamrock want him back and should just let him go to them

Funnily enough afolabi had a great season last season with bohs and signed for a team in the Belgian pro league (bottom of league) this week.
Johnny kenny though, not good enough. I reckon we’re loaning him in hopes he has a better season and then we can get some sort of fee for him

He's only 20 with two years left on his deal, so we got plenty of time to see if he develop into a player who could challenge for a spot in the future.

He needs a good loan and 15+ goals next season on a decent level I recon.

Can’t really see many guys we sign from LOI being good enough for here. Should probably stop shopping there now.

Admira or a Scottish Championship side would probably be better for him.

Via a strong loan at Aberdeen and desperate circumstances in defence at teg start if the season.

I don't mind it as a shopping youth and then getting them a development loan in a stronger league, but multiple season plans to the LOI isn't going to develop them enough for us

Sure, I knew that, just pointing out, it can work given it was being proposed we stop completely.

I don’t think it matters where we loan him to if he’s simply not good enough tbh. League of Ireland been a better standard in recent years. Probably why Kenny was deemed 3rd choice striker when all were fit. If he was good enough he would’ve had more impact on LOI. He won’t make it here

There is some serious young talent in Ireland at youth levels but they are usually snapped up from abroad before they even make LOI level. The players that make it to LOI are usually the best of the rest. With a few exceptions players from LOI very seldom make it a much higher level.

Jack Byrne has probably been the stand out player in LOI for years and he wouldn't make it here

My take to him is that he's shown himself really well at a young age at Sligo so we signed him, had him in about with training etc but didn't make it into the team for us then, been put back to Shamrock on loan and (without having seen him) he's done ok there almost a goal contribution every 3 games so they want him back says they see the value but we should be looking to get him tested in a different environment i.e. a different league, to see how he gets on there.

Or if it was just a get wages paid loan the we should sell I agree.

A goal contribution every 3 games for a team that dominate play/possession in the loi and create the most chances isn’t great I don’t think. Especially considering he wants to play for Celtics first team (kyogo, oh and if we bring in someone else) so to me I just can’t see a future for him with us at all here.
I reckon rovers want him again on loan cause we probably cover most his wages, graham Burke is an injury liability and Rory gaffney is touching on a bit and will probs be his last year. Id say they want to loan him again this season then maybe get him for cheap when there’s * all left on his contract. I wouldn’t mind him going to another league on loan tbh like you said but I just don’t see him getting near our first team. I reckon Celtic doing it to ease wage bill n to try get him a move.

Edit: I’ll admit though I do forget he’s so young. Hopefully he can kick on but I think that will just gather s fee for him as right now I don’t see him as a back up even tbh. I watch loi anyway so I’ll be keeping tabs on him regardless

I don't see him making it with us right now either but that's why I want him tested elsewhere. I can't comment on how he is there as I don't watch them, but hope he can be something, he's one of ours after all

Yeah true I’d agree with you on trying a differnet league tbh. And any game I watched of him he looked decent but that was it. Decent pace, decent size, good on the ball and pressed a lot but didn’t make too many chances n get too many shots away. Burke and gaffney were better. Was impressed with afolabi thought that used to be on our books last season. Earned himself a move to Belgian pro league side kv kurtjik I think they’re called from bohs

That is true up until now but it is hopefully going to change in the coming years. With one of the effects of brexit meaning that Irish youngsters cannot now sign for English teams when they turn 16 and the gradual emergence of academy systems in the LOI it is leading to a growing youth movement of players breaking into LOI sides. There is a long long way to go resources wise for Irish clubs to have truly valid academies but there is some shoots of promise there particularly at the 3 bigger Dublin clubs Bohemians Shamrock Rovers and St Patricks Athleic whos academies are all already showing promise.

No I would be amazed if he did. In fact I have not seen anything to suggest he will make it at any level even close to ours.
