    I'd agree.

He's also 6ft and a bit of physicality about him too so you'd hope he could cope going back the way.

I think what can be said about Araujo is he is physically good, he looks fast, and fairy strong and has ability to go past players and be a threat in the final third.

Domestically I think you are spot on for most of our games that’s what we need. I saw him Compared to Bale somewhere so perhaps he could be a left footed right winger coming in option.

For left back I would have liked us to go for Gijs Smal of Twente, as his deal is up in the summer and he is a real creative player from left full back.

Kai Wagner who has now been linked with them was another who is out of contract at a good age and seems a talented player.

In terms of the team he plays for I just watched the highlights of their game and they have a couple of other guys worth watching Marques an attacking midfielder and Holsgrove (a Scot) on loan from Olympiakos both looked good players.

That Marques was quality against Porto a few weeks ago. Was proper dangerous when he was on the ball.

Interesting to see what happens with this sounded like it was a go’er but links to other left backs now emerging.

Remembering that Brendan liked to try out players in other positions first time around I wonder if we view him as a potential winger option that can cover left back too.

Seemed like a goes and probably was but as we've seen numerous times before nothing is ever as simple as it seems with that fat * lawwell involved.

No doubt wanting to hang on to last day of the window to save a month's wages.

Read a report the other day saying we had made "tentative enquires" about McKenna. * me the guy is out of contract in the summer and available for about 200k. Just go and * do the deal

Trying to follow what the graph means here, does this mean his weakest area is defending? Or is it contribution to his team, where the role might be as an attacking fullback outlet so won’t show higher defensive stats?

Think the LB position is the priority, not just due to the popular fan opinion about Taylor, it’s clear that BR views Taylor as the only option there. Clear that Berna’s not viewed as a guy to be trusted, Ralstons played there before him once this season when Taylor had the flu (and played for 60 minutes unwell).

So he’ll be desperate for another option, and hopefully that is one that is first team with Taylor as the squad guy. Taylor as first team automatic pick, especially not playing inverted (that we’ve kinda reverted to as we’ve went on our first winning streak this year), I’m not happy with that despite liking Taylor. As a squad option, backup and a reliable backup, who is a massive presence in the dressing room by all accounts as well. I’d be very happy with that

Hope we sign him. Most promising link thus far, IMO.

Interestingly just watching the highlights of the St Mirren game there and it was quite evident on occasion that Taylor had pushed on and Johnston had tucked in like a right centre back with Nawrocki down the middle and Scales over towards a left centre back position. Something we seen during his first stint with Lustig tucking in and Tierney bombing on. You then had Sinclair almost become a second striker and join Dembele in the middle and you could see Palma take up at least more an inside left/ left half space type position with O’Riley doing the same on the right and Maeda or Abada attacking the back post.

So having a left back with good pace and stamina as well as attacking threat would make a lot of sense if he wants to do this more often.

I have seen a lot of people compare him to Bernabei but I think he looks to have more quality on the ball from the limited I have seen.

To simplify it, the further right on the graph the better. I still don't quite understand the peaks (how they calculate the probabilities) but the guys explains the model here.

Ahh got the read of it right I think based on that, it’s based on contributions to the team. So he looks like he’s expected to take part of building the play and attacking more than defensive. That’ll be same as here, probably more so here, but we need to know he can defend as well.

    Apologies for the bump…..
Was under the impression this one was going to be further along etc but it’s gone rather quiet, he’s playing sporting now with estoril. I’m going to watch it and have a look at him, if I don’t switch over to fa cup I might watch porto aswell to have a look at their left back aswell since The Republican on kds said we’re interested in a porto lb

Really should of been done by now.

Had 4 months to identify a compotent left back and get deal in place for the window opening. It's not like it's an issue that's just crept up on us. Fact he's playing 2nyt suggests deal isn't particularly close either.

Earlyish days but already getting same old feeling about this window

I'm still not really sold on this guy. Watched the first half there and he didn't look good defensively.

Was even worse second half aswell mate. He looked good on the ball and going forward at times. Didn’t fill me with confidence.

In fairness hard to judge him positionally with the shape they play, it was all over the shop. They were brutal
