Absolutely onboard with that approach when you've this much time off.

Players need a proper rest and time with their families etc after a busy December.

Get them back still with 10 days to 2 weeks to get working on the training pitch. Toss in maybe a closed door game or two.

He will definitely be 'green lighting' the signings this time tho.. not his signings can't be levelled at him this time.

 

I'm alright to keep scouting in these markets as a club, some top level talent to be found there. But not all are top level for us.

It needs to be more sensible in approach when our manager is not overly familiar with the region.

I'll not buy that Rodgers is actively targeting players from there. But happy to allow the club to scout properly and suggest talents that could work both on the pitch and commercially for us - if we do it properly, which we tend not to.
More like our usual scatter gun approach to projects and hope for the best.

I don’t actually think there was too much difference between the campaigns tbh. Ange’s team for some reason had a crisis in confidence and couldn’t put away the easy chances they were making. This year we did do that more.

 

Would say it was an easier group this year though, think the not putting away chances happened this year too. But still an improvement.

 

You say that but if they are deemed not good enough that will be said JC you know that as well as i do.

 

Depends what Rodgers expectations are really. Staying is an easier option as it's the status quo.

If he wins the league, which I think will happen, then choice is his.

 

Think in general we were a lot more clinical, can’t think of many big chances we let go by us

 

Think we missed a few each leg of the Lazio ties. Sure there were others too, biggest thing with CL isn't it. Fewer chances so have to make them count.

 

Ye wr were better at taking chances. Didn't create nearly as much though. We had the lowest number of attempts in the tournament, only one team scored less and only one team conceded more. I think overall we weren't any better, despite having 2 more points. You could argue we were worse in some ways.

 

Can’t remember that in the Lazio ties, who for? I can remember Yang had a chance and squared it instead but wasn’t a massive sitter or that, in the away tie.

 

Yes we were very, very cautious. Defended a lot with us taking a break on the ball. But we created and took more high quality chances, last year I think we made more of them, didn’t take them.

And that can be down to just more experience at that level

 

We had more shots on target than off target, which is pretty unusual! Still not a great number if shots though. Last season Kyogo, Giakoumakis, Maeda and Abada all missed huge chances. Kyogo was clinical af this year though, definitely an experience thing.

 

Possibly, but for most of us, we realise this window is on him..

Does he have enough influence to get that quality in he desires.

 

It is indeed on him. Maybe the question should be does he have the ability to spot the quality he desires/we need..

 

You would hope he is presented with those 'quality' options to decide on, but aye his record is a worry..
