It will be, that’s what big clubs do. Managers work extensively with the scouts and recruitment team, to bring in the guys they want. Our fans hate * like that but, dunno why.

Forced to trust them as he didn’t get a say on they three.

That's just forced then surely? So he should resign.

Agreed. Why do people think it will be "Rodgers" type signings other than he'll possibly get to prioritise positions? It'll come down to who's available and price.

It will be Rodgers type signings, but that’s directed through the recruitment team to go out and get the intel on players.

‘I want a physical, powerful, strong runner LB, who’s a danger going forward, and defensively sound’ - Scouts go find one, he runs the rule over the list of them and checks them out, and greenlights what he wants.

And there’s guys he knows through his own network, or he has known personally or worked with.

Then guys who get offered through the club network a lá Edouard.

They are the same thing in my opinion. They were always signing here, so he has been forced to trust the scouts judgement on they players.

If they were done practically before he arrived then why should he resign? If he has been assured going forward that he has the final say on the players? These were clearly players identified under Ange.

Anyway back to Iwata, I’d love to see him play from now till the end of the season as the 6. Tell him he’s got that time to make the jersey his. The thought of being able to rotate between the other 4, McGregor, O’Riley, Hatate and Bernardo for the forward midfield positions is really exciting.

Think he'd be ideal doing similar role to Bitton under Ange.

He was constantly brought on after about an hour to shore up middle of the park and see games out.

That's what I was originally, he is never mentioned by Rodgers when he's talking about player availability and no journalist seems to ask about him either..

I wasn't seriously suggesting he should resign. Sounds like you agree anyways that he'll have still given them the nod, so no need.

Dunno if I’ve missed it but has there been any updates as to how long Iwata will be out for?

Strange though isn’t it? Obviously serious enough if he’s still out and haven’t even seen any interviewers etc ask Rodgers about him

I liked that he always showed for the ball and looked comfortable in possession. Id have no issues with him deputising for McGregor or allowing him to push further up the pitch.

Yes, it is odd. I guess he's not really established as a regular player but you would have expected at least one or 2 sports journalists to have taken an interest.

Definitely established enough to be queried on since he was beginning to start games and was involved in goals/assists. Hoping he can get back as soon as possible as I do like the look of him and think he can be a very useful player for us

He is a very good option to have. I’d be more concerned with what’s happening with him if Bernardo hadn’t been as good the last 3 games. The role he plays though is definitely one that we need to rectify for Europe next season. Iwata might have been the answer to that problem, but not sure how much we will see if him now.

A good squad player I think also, still want to see more of him as he has still very rarely played but when he does he looks strong, energetic and tidy on the ball. Defends pretty well.

When Turnbull came on against the huns last week thats really what we need Iwata for, to come on in midfield to see out games adding energy and ability to defend. Bringing Turnbull on was like weakening the team.
