That goes against the theory that Rodgers was the one who brought in all the players in the summer. Why have a bloated squad like we do. Eh @Liam Scales :fear:

The nefarious board is clearly not allowing him to sell players either.

They just love to spend that dough

Technically, we never spent anything. Our nett spend on transfers alone was a plus. Then we have scattered money over 9 players unnecessarily and went for quantity over quality.

Pretty sure Rodgers has stated we need to thin the squad as it's too large.

Phillips going back to Liverpool, and Ideguichi being sold are the start. Some of the prospects signed will likely go on loan too. Not sure that's controversial.

Rodgers was in at the start of the summer so surely all his signings @murphy88? Are you suggesting he wasn't the manager when they arrived :43:

That’s why they didn’t thin the squad, need to keep the wage bill up. They feel bad if they’re no spending money

I’m not disagreeing with that. So why would he then bring in 9 players who are predominantly all projects?

Me and @Liam Scales have done this to death. I’ll say it once more though, I believe that the likes of Kwon, Yang and Tilio were coming here no matter who was manager. The latter being signed 11 days after Rodgers did would suggest that deal was basically over the line before Rodgers come here. I think he was forced to trust the scouting team on certain players in the summer as these were clearly players identified during Ange’s tenure. Whether that’s the case going forward is a different story perhaps.

Need to teams to want to take the dross we have off your hands mate.

We are probably saving on wages since last season as well. Jota, Starfelt, Barkas, Ajeti and Haksabanovic all notable players away. Some who will have been on very good money.

It’s not a subtle change at all. I said this the other day as well but I think you ignored it.

It’s what I’ve been saying the full time, he put his trust in the scouting team and greenlit the deals.

He's not going to know the intimate details of the more minor signings, who are coming out of long term scouting, but he should have done due diligence before agreeing. If not that's on Rodgers. Those signings were millions of pounds, in some cases.

So either he's said yes to them having looked at them and agreed, or he's incompetent.

For all we know he could have rejected just as many, or more projects.

My pet theory is he was focused on a couple of "Rodgers" signings, Tierney, etc, and was expecting them to land, and they didn't, so he's been left with the projects, which he should maybe have looked at harder. Still his signings though.

He also had the experience of coming in the first time round, and being presented a deal 8 months in the work to rubber stamp and get over the line and it was Moussa Dembele.

Probably puts a good spin on the guys presented this time round, Korean Young POTY, a boy who’s a golden ball Nominee.

a random bloke from Seoul. Pedigree.

Do we know how long he’s out for?

Be good to get him back. Midfield suddenly looking a bit stronger than we thought.

That’s slightly different from what I’m saying. I think he was forced into trusting the scouting on certain players as they were coming in no matter what. The three I’ve mentioned being the ones I believe were coming here no matter what.

The question I have is what makes anyone think that the scouting department isn't going to be where Rodgers gets most of his guidance in January?

Managers like Moyes and Ange are involved in potential transfer targets from early on and in great detail I'm sure. Rodgers much less so. Sure he'll through a few names he likes in the hat, or try to leverage a relationship but it will be others that do the leg work.

The three that I don’t believe he had anything to do with are Kwon, Yang and Tilio.

How could he be forced to trust? Either he didn't trust them but said yes, or he trusted them surely?
