Seems they've already got one signed, Romanian centre half from Genoa.

He was well backed in the summer too so I do think you'll see him work his magic this window again, and if he does that and gets a bit of fortune with injuries there's no reason they can't challenge for the title.

Was he well backed though? I mean, I don't think they really spent that much money. They spent £240m but they made £130m and £70m of that was for players that were obligations to buy in Porro and Kulusevski.

I'd say he was backed, aye. I might be wrong but I can't remember Spurs spending close to that in one transfer window previously.

Signed a first choice goalkeeper, centre back and midfielder. Plus a couple of promising younger players who have already made a decent impact.

They desperately need another centre half and probably a creative midfielder.

Maybe, aye. I'm not sure about the usual net spend as I don't follow the EPL much anymore, but he got Vicario, Van de Ven, and Maddison in, three key players, as well as Porro/Kulusevski and some others like Solomon. Definitely a strong window.

He probably was from a Spurs point of view, to be fair. Their net spend was well over £100m and the 2 players that were signed from the previous season, which were obligations, have been excellent for him(Porro and Kulusevski)

Maddison, Van Den Ven, Johnson and Vicario were £160m alone. Johnson at £55m has probably not hit the highs as much as he was hoping.

If he gets a CB, creative midfielder and Striker... he's getting top 4 for me.

Just seen the weekends highlights there....is it just me or anytime I've seen spurs a lot of goals are coming from a sort of long through ball?
Must be that teams actually come out when spurs are dominating possession and allows that fast ball to pacey strikers. Just seems so direct whilst also keeping possession.

    * spl man. 11 men behind the ball.

Of course there's always pressure to perform, but he's under no genuine pressure in the sense of their being a threat to his position or anything like that. Obviously not now with them sitting a few points off the top, but also not during that losing run.

Levy isn't stupid and he'll realise that he's struck gold with Postecoglou. Similar to here, he's having a transformative effect on the club. He's brought everyone together - players, supporters, the owner - in a way that just hasn't existed the past few years under Conte and Mourinho. It won't be lost on Levy that in the space of half a season the fans have gone from hounding him to singing 'we've got out Tottenham back'.

On the pitch, the fact he's got that bunch anywhere near the top of the league is remarkable given their injury issues. Going to places like Manchester City with a backline consisting of 4 fullbacks is mad.

To be fair, mate, apart from the 3 promoted sides, every single team in that league now is a really good team. Even the 3 promoted teams (who are much weaker than the others) would be title challengers in the SPL (and all of the others would be title winners). In contrast, SPL sides outwith us and the Huns are poor sides with a lot of journeymen players. It's been that way for almost 40 years now. It's fundamentally broken and and that won't change unless we and the Huns both share some of the wealth. These teams play the way they do against us because otherwise they'd get bent over every single time and they know that.

Folk are 100% entitled to say it's our money and that they don't want us to share it. It's a valid argument, fair enough; but then the league will remain broken, so maybe it's short-sighted. I'd argue that we might even get more money in the long-term if we can make the league more competitive.

A less valid argument is that it's the responsibility of other clubs to improve; but I think if all 5 non-diddy clubs have failed to win a title between them for nearly 4 decades, it's clearly not just individual failure on their part. It's clearly something bigger (IMO the financial gulf).

It's hard to see how it can happen, but my wish would be for that to change.

He made an interesting comment about us, said he loves clubs that make a plan and stick to it and we’re certainly a club like that.

    it doesn’t feel like that

Get injuries under control and strengthen well this window...

I don't see why Emery and Ange can't upset the "establishment" and make a run for the title more open than it has been over the last few seasons.

I think the extent of the plan was - Plan A - Ange. Plan B - panic

The day the treble was wrapped up was so overshadowed by the rumours. The image of the board looking lost all but confirmed it.

I’m starting to understand more and more how the influx of Aussies on here when he was announced felt :56:

He loves a zinger, both in the form of witty combacks and the KFC ones I imagine.
