Must say, he shut a lot of us up tonight that felt he was a weak link in Europe.

Nah in all seriousness when he’s good he helps the team tick. Definitely has a place in the squad but needs proper competition for when it’s not working.

I think that’s the perfect way to look at it. Competition. If he progresses when someone else comes in and keeps his place in the team, it can only be a good thing for him and us.

Hmmmm, I hear what you're saying and I agree about some of his criticism being OTT and often bang out of order. I don't think he's a good enough defender to be our first choice LB, but I can't fault his effort, and I think he's actually a really good guy. So whilst I 100% would like to see an upgrade, I actually like GT and would be happy for him to be around as backup. I also don't think he's the type of guy to go in for any gesture theatrics with our own support, he's never came across that way at all to me, and I think the needle between him and the St Mirren fans was very obvious and very vocal. They were giving him dogs abuse in the immediate there and then before he bagged his goal, calling him a cheat and loudly booing him. Surely that's the far more obvious target for his "goal celebration" in the heat of that moment, than remembering that he was getting a bit of stick from the Celtic fans a good few weeks ago now when the whole team was getting it tight.

The overwhelming evidence on the day would suggest it was directed at the Saints fans, I think it's unfair on him to overthink it and attribute his actions as a dig at the Celtic support. He deserves the benefit of anyone who doubts that. :50:

He’s a good player to have in the squad, he just needs genuine competition who are far superior to Berna.

Tonight performance doesnt really mean that he wasnt.

He needs to be more positionally disciplined and do the job of a left back. He cant just turn it on in the games where we dominate and are on the front foot.

He almost cost us by getting caught out of position on a few occasions in the first half vs Rangers.

Hopefully he is now re-finding the form of last season.

His contract is up at the end of the season. Wonder if there’s been held talks yet? Hope we tie him down to a lengthy contract.

It should be the philosophy across the entire squad tbh.

    We play enough games anyway.

Very good again today. Our problem full back is on the other side more than Taylor. AJ has been rank rotten since his injury and his final ball is brutal.

When Taylor had fault at both the goals conceded vs Killie, you cant really say our full back problems lie only with AJ

Ok let’s go back to his mistakes….pathetic. He is not brilliant but dragging up a poor game when AJ hasn’t had a good game is rather poor.

Its not just one game, he has been in poor enough form for the majority of this season that many wanted a left back brought in this window. Do two games change that? One and a half if you count the poor first half he had against Rangers.

Iv been a big advocator for Taylor and hyped him to become a steady full back for us when he signed. But he is limited and for some reason he still wants to run out of position and into centre mid, which cost us in the example of the game iv provided. It was a huge defeat for us.

And it isnt a case of Taylor vs AJ. Neither have been in any kind of consistent form as yet this season.

Again, like i said, hopefully tonight is a sign that his form has turned around and he can refind the form of last season.

Credit to him, had a really good 90min. Guy has knocked his pan in recently.

Just a position we need to upgrade bigtime, and relegate him to squad player, would be first choice playing whenever we are on plastic pitches.

    * sake some people I genuinely think are annoyed when he plays good, he’s been on a good run of form just now, coinciding with Rodgers giving him more freedom positionally on the pitch. We all know LB is a priority, even if he was Tierney it would be with him being the only trustworthy one at the club right now, we should be aiming to replace him with a fullback more suited to the style Rodgers clearly wants to play but Taylor as a squad option I’m more than happy with.

He’s also one of few leaders we have on the pitch, Taylor, Hart, Calmac and Scales lately.

When CCV’s back it’s him, Scales takes a backseat. People underestimate that, when * hit the fan and we were nervous as * ending against the Scum, Taylor was one that majorly stood up to be counted and was making sure those around him were there to be counted. I genuinely think he’d have went for Mj in the changing room after it :56:
