I didn’t think Johnston was great, but Sima, who I think we all agreed before the game was their biggest threat, contributed practically nothing to the game.

 

Aye, I agree. He was fkn hopeless but more with the ball, defensively he's still good for me, but it was his shocking use of the ball. He still has to sharpen up.on both traits though, but we know what he can do, and a RB is nowhere near a priority and I still believe Ralston is decent enough backup.

Celtic and Edinburgh sides hardest hit as Afcon and Asian Cup squads named

Scottish clubs are braced to lose key players over the next few weeks after squads were confirmed for the Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournaments.

Nearly a dozen players from the Scottish Premiership will be taking part in the Asian Cup, which starts on 12 January in Qatar, with Celtic the heaviest hit.

Celtic's Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate are in the Japan squad for the Asian Cup, while Oh Hyeon-gyu and Yang Hyun-jun were among the 26 names picked by South Korean national coach Jurgen Klinsmann for his squad.

Oh, who has been used mainly as a substitute this season, has scored five goals in 20 appearances for Brendan Rodgers' side.

Celtic fringe player Marco Tilio has also been called up for the competition by Australia coach Graham Arnold, who has a strong Scottish Premiership contingent in his 26-man pool.

The Asian Cup, which is being held in Qatar, runs from 12 January to 10 February 2024, while Afcon - being staged in Ivory Coast - takes place from 13 January to 11 February.

Even with the resources accessible from being in the EPL, Brentford acknowledge it's a difficult market to work in and they have it easier than us.

 

Aye, January can be tough.. but the interesting part for me was the different stages of their process.. our 'strategy' definitely feels a lot more haphazard.

Aye, when you look purely at the players we've brought in tho.. due diligence can't have been done on some of them.. every transfer is a gamble of sorts but we have signed some that are never making it here..

 

Do we have a big enough recruitment team? Genuine question here. It takes a team to do this well these days. I honestly wonder if we should be looking to hire more people.
