    And? So did Giakoumakis.

How many other players also have and been successful.

    Weird argument.

Giakoumakis was dug before he went to the Netherlands. That league is very inconsistent… you can get a Vincent Janssen, Ricky van wolfswinkel or a luis Suarez/van Persie

For what it's worth if we signed the two former players after they left Holland I reckon they'd have done the business for us:giggle1:

I’m not against signing him but this isn’t a weird argument at all to be fair. :fear:

It's a strange argument in isolation.

    I dunno.

He said he wants an out and out goal scorer as a striker.

Someone said he has a good record in the Eredivisie, so he said “so does Dessers” to point out that goals in the Eredivisie aren’t always an indicator of a good goal scorer.

I don’t necessarily agree but it’s a pretty sound and sensible reply to a statement. Arguable, of course, but not weird or in isolation.

I don't agree to be honest.

You can literally make that argument for any league or any club in the world when it comes to transfers and especially for us. That's why I said "in isolation"... you need to take the context of everything, when it comes to transfers.

Simply putting down the goalscoring record of an individual (SVH) because another shiter player(Dessers) had a decent record in the same league isn't a solid argument. He wants an out and out goalscorer. SVH is an out and out striker.

So.. that's why it's a silly argument to make..

Glad we got there in the end.

No he didn't. In Eredivisie 36 goals in 93 games, a passable record but not great. SVH had 22 in 48 during his 18 month loan. 22 in 60 overall but he was 18 that season with 12 appearances.

I agree, but I’m hearing we’re not to compare players’ performances in the same league because it’s a weird argument or something.

Right lads, we’re not to sign anyone else from the Premier League because Cantwell was decent down there and he’s * up here. So no premier league players.

We also can’t sign anyone from the Eredivisie because Dessers had a decent goal scoring record over there but he’s *. So no players from there.

We also shouldn’t sign any strikers from Ligue 1 because Sebo was decent over there and beyond awful over here.. so no players from there.

No players from Portugal because Rangers signed Cardozo from there and he was the worst defender I’ve ever seen. So, nae defenders from Portugal.

No one else from Asia because we signed Ideguchi and he was *. So no midfielders from the J-League anymore. Kwon was also mince so no midfielders that have played in the K2 League.

I think it’s sensible to look at the quality of the league but this is too extreme IMO.
