He’s absolutely nailed on for a 2+ Fouls bet every game.

Just the way he plays. You can almost get away with not having Maeda when he plays.

Given his age, potential and steady improvement in performances then I think £6m could end up looking like a bargain for him in a couple of seasons time.

He should have done better with the header before that. I think he is an intelligent player, he knows where he should be both in a defensive and attacking sense. Only thing for me is he looks to lack a yard of pace but has good stamina and puts in some shift.

Can also strike a ball as he showed yesterday but has scored a few good finishes for the Portuguese U21s too.

This could be a verbatim description of Aaron Mooy. He carries on as he is and 6mil will be a bargain.

I guess the big thing with Mooy was he had an outstanding passing range and weight of pass. Not seen that yet from Bernardo.

I think he looks slower than what he is. He's far more mobile than the likes of Turnbull and Aaron Mooy but probably doesn't have the ability on the ball that they did.

Wanted to see goals from him and now we're seeing it

I can see what others were saying about him now his touch technique all round ability I think theres a bit of stan petrov about him, think he'll kick on now for us. Just 20 years old aswell? Imagine we had Scottish players develop as quick and young as him, he's got a seasoned pro look about him

He's growing Into it, will be interesting to see how things shape with hatate back now, I'll save any thoughts on signing till the end of the season just now but it's starting to look like it could be a good call, especially depending on what the futures of O'Reilly and Hatate are next summer

The vibe I get from him is he’s switched on and listening to his coaches.

    Two pieces of evidence:

    - Against Dundee it was evident to everyone the midfielders weren’t contributing in the final third and just playing safe passes wide. 7 minutes into the second half, he bursts into the box and grabs the goal. Clearly been told by his coaches.

    - For me at first he wasn’t contributing enough and was missing an all action performance. In the Hun game, he busts a gut to beat that Dijon mustard to the ball and win us a free kick. That’s clearly the coaches telling him how to improve his game as a midfielder.

He’s exactly the type of player that can be developed. Someone who listens and improves the gaps in his game, and does what the coaches tell him.

He just sounded switched on and intelligent when he spoke too.

His technique for the goal was * top drawer, don't see that pulled off so perfectly very often.

Given all those points you make and his recent performances I am most definitely coming around to the idea of we should pay the 6m and buy him next summer. At the very least he replaces Turnbull in the squad given it seems he will be gone at the end of the year now. Plus he clearly has much more potential to become a really good player for us. I wasn't keen on us signing him this summer before but coming around to it now.
I also think now he fits at the least the profile of what we should be doing instead of these constant 1-3m projects who rarely can come in and help the team. Instead look in the 4-7m range for players who at worst can at least help the team but if they develop and flourish at Celtic can still turn into players we sell a few years later at big profits so not changing that part of our model.

Yes, if he carries on as he is then he would be a great addition to the squad. With Hatate away to the Asia cup, he should get an extended run of games. If Turnbull was to be sold / leave then that would leave us with :

    Callum McGregor
    Matt O’Riley
    Reo Hatate
    Paulo Bernardo

Kwon looks a mile off it, would loan out or get rid and would possibly send Holm out on loan too.

If a huge bid was to come in for O’Riley then serious money would need to be spent on his replacement.

I forgot Iwata there too, think would be better if he was moved on too.

Yeah, that summarises my thoughts on it. Subject to how he performs going forward of course but it’s his spot to lose now.
