He's very very limited in his actual footballing ability it would seem

Through the middle is his best option, as his speed will lend to him being able to get on to through balls. See the red card today.
It's also probably how he scored a many a goal in Japan through the middle and latching on to dangerous balls.

    As a winger, he's * useless.

His quality on the ball is genuinely * at times.

I don't think we can continue with him at RW for the foreseeable. Definitely not in Scotland and I'd rather more genuine quality on the right for Europe. His energy levels do not compensate enough for his lack of ability everywhere else.

You sound surprised. I’d be more shocked if he put it in on a plate for Kyogo.

I love the bloke but under BR and since the injury, he's been awful.

Aye he's looked rusty since returning. I do like him as a player but you just know he'll kill a lot of attacks.

Total enigma of a player. Ranges from electric to erratic. Not got a clue what you are going to get from him.

He played a great cross and got a man sent off.

On the other hand he puts crosses out the park under no pressure from the opponent.

Difference for me is that even though he's never had the technique, he was always a danger, looked like knicking a goal fairly regularly, could burst past his man at times, the odd assist. Whereas right now, he doesn't look dangerous at all..

Not to put a downer on a good day but that was one of his worst performances in that fixture he wasn’t even that good at stopping Yilmaz as he skinned him a few times.

Made some great runs but when he got picked out he just wasted situations. I do wonder unless we go two up top how long domestically we stick with Maeda as a starting winger domestically when we mostly play against low blocks, that nullify his pace.

A guy in the pub said "he has more touches with his shin pads than his feet" which feels very apt

Saying that he's vital in our win today, his run creates the time for Kyogo's snap shot, and nobody else presses enough to get Balogan sent off. He also wins so many balls in the middle of the pitch running back.
He's devoid of confidence and always takes time coming back from injury and he's definitely a great option to have.
If we can sign a proper right winger to compete with Abada he'll be perfect rotation for Palma on the left

That and one near the end where Johnston got in and we had 3 guys in the box were probably our two best opening and being able to create a goal and they both battered the ball nowhere near anybody.

Both went for wild crosses when they should have passed it on the deck, Maeda towards Kyogo and Johnston to one of the players.

If Maeda had the skills of Palma though he'd be well beyond our price range

He is still invaluable in a game like today in my opinion. Is he limited with the ball? Absolutely. The shift he puts in though is incredible, and in a game like today, you need boys like him.

Was a great player for Ange's system but Brendanball needs quality ball players and Daizen is literally the opposite of that.

Yea, was comical in a way.
That stupid Hun should never have brought him down, more chance he would blast it over the bar than score.
Overall, he was poor yesterday, since his injury, seems scared to tackle.

For a guy as pacey as Maeda is, he seems to have trouble getting on the end of crosses across the box. He's often at the far post and still about a mile behind the ball coming all the way across. I can't envision what sort of striker he must have been in Japan when he can't handle tap-ins.
