Not with our defence of dooooom!

 

Our defence has mostly been fine. 2 clean sheets in our last 2 games and at Ibrox.

 

Definitely Welsh if CCV isn't fit, i don't understand the stick Welsh gets, definitely a decent CB in him...

 

We should be going into this game with massive confidence, surprising to me a lot of people here don't think we will do well.

Atletico, Lazio and Feyenoord came to Celtic Park and we played well against them and they all have far better teams and are far more dangerous up front and they play far better football.

I don't know how people can look at that hun team and actually have any fear about them. The equivalent of the players they have middle to front, say their team will be Jack, Lundstram, Cantwell, McCausland, Sima and Dessers. It would be like us going into a game against them with a team of Abildgaard, Iwata, Johansen, Tilio, Samaras and Ciftci - thats about the standard of their players. If we were playing guys like that against them i'd be thinking how are we going to hold the ball against them and how are we going to get near scoring a goal.

We are not in good form, our squad is under strength and theres pretty much nothing on the bench but the starting XI for us is still way better than theirs and we do control games well. They might snuff us out and score a set piece or breakaway or two if they are lucky but they shouldn't really, we should be comfortable in this game.

People seem to have forgot we went to Ibrox with Turnbull starting, Holm replacing him. Scales and Lagerbielke playing like their 2nd ever games at centre-back for us or even first was it and a half fit Alistair Johnston, Bernabei came on a sub etc never even really played well and won without any struggle.

People seem to be under the illusion they are playing well or better or something as well but Aberdeen and Hearts would probably have beat them if they never got late penalties, even that Cup final if Aberdeen had got a penalty theres a good chance they'd have won. They are still very poor and still playing completely mediocre.

 

I really hope they do try to sit in. It rarely works in this game. The more aggressive attacking team usually takes control and wins. Like we've done for the last 2 years (and they did in the last one last season). They had success in the 90s hitting us on the break but I've rarely seen it work since then.

 

The biggest danger to us is the ref.

 

Kyogo is always up for the big occasion...

 

I think the performance was decent yesterday, Dundee were well organised and sat back. We were patient and kept creating chances, can't ask for much more really...?

 

I'm hoping for a surprise result - maybe 3-0 or 3-1 - as I think we're quite a bit better than them. The teams they played in the EL were nowhere near the teams we played in the CL and although we didn't get the results, apart from one game when down to 10 men, we competed well with those teams and probably deserved a few more points. They lost and drew with a Cypriot team and tbh I think they got a bit lucky winning the group. They've got loads of injuries too. We have no excuses not to win this game well.

 

I can never call these games either but over the last couple of seasons, we're always better and always fair better when teams come out and have a go...

Check the stats of recent League games as well us and them have had.

The huns often only get 53-55% possession and they give up about half the amount of corners and shots as they themselves have. They are fairly closely balanced games.

Our recentl 3 League games we've averaged 76% possession and average 45 shots and corners to 5 against us per game almost double what the huns average in their favour and less than half what they get against them.

Their last game for example Hearts, Hearts had almost as much possession and had actually more shots and corners than Hearts, Dundee and Livingston had against us combined.

 

When we went to their shithole, with no fans, we had a defensive crisis.

The usual SMSM were trumpeting a convincing hun win. Hun fans were rattling on about record score lines.

What happened? We went there and won the game despite the barrage of negativity aimed at us.

People keep talking about the first game at ibokes.
That was against Beales Sevco. This is uncle Festers.
Since that bucked tooth * joined they've a better domestic and European record than us. There's no beating around the bush that he's a massive improvement on the used car salesman.

I'm not saying is a great manager, but it's obvious he's competent enough. They're going to try to press us all game. We need Cal to be at the fullest of his abilities, and the midfield to be combative and physical, exactly what they will be.
