That is a loan manager. If he was that, then our appointment of him is an even more embarrassing mistake.

We're OK in a few areas (for this window).

Center back is fine - CCV, Scales, Nawrocki, Welsh and Lagerbielke

Right back - Johnston and Ralston

Left wing - Palma and Maeda

I think the five center backs are fine until the summer where, if we get everyone that we need in this window, we can then look to upgrade.

Ralston does a job at right back. His job is purely to cover Johnston and he does it without complaints.

Palma and Maeda are class at left wing.

The areas we desperately need to improve on are left back, right wing, striker, midfielder and keeper. Probably in that order.

Left back is glaringly an easy upgrade. Taylor is the the Ralston of left back. Fine for cover, never first pick for the position. We also have no one for competition as Taylor would've been out the team long ago.

We have Abada who is injured for right wing. Nobody has claimed that position since he was injured at the beginning of the season. Forrest can still play a part behind the scenes, bringing experience for the younger players coming through.

Kyogo is number one striker and Oh is hit and miss. Both will be missing soon during the Asian cup. We have no one else.

We need someone who is going to claim a spot in that midfield alongside O'Riley and McGregor. Some may say that player is Iwata, and I like him, but he hasn't done it yet. We need competition in this area. Hatate has been out most of the season, Turnbull is just too slow at everything and Holm is one for the future. They'll all get game time but when push comes to shove, I want another center mid to take us up a level.

Keeper needed to be addressed in the summer. It wasn't so I'd imagine we'll continue with Hart but we MUST get a new number one in the summer at the latest.

I'd punt MJ, Kobayashi, Phillips (the *), Bernabei, McCarthy, Bernardo, Kwon and loan Tilio and Yang to another Scottish team.

And what are his achievements? He would have had a big say in bringing in Barkas, that alone is a sackable offence. And has he improved any of our keepers? Just look at Hart at set pieces

He’s been with us since 2007. That includes working with Boruc and Forster. Even Gordon who completely revived his career despite some bad moments. Hart is regressing due to age, a coach isn’t going to have a big change in him now.

Stevie Woods is probably one of the best GK coaches in the UK. Possibly Europe.

And of course he wouldn’t of had a say in Barkas ffs. Don’t make up * to suit your agenda.

Not to defend the club over transfers because their summer recruitment was horrendous but Barkas is the strangest signing and absolute proof that playing for this club is too much for some players.

He was very good in Greece and very good against us. He then came here and looked like he had never been in goals in his life. Everything was going wrong for him. Then, he goes out on loan, becomes an absolute stalwart for them and FC Utrecht. Signs for them on a permanent deal and is still performing really well over there. His value and performances over the last couple of seasons in Holland have been on the rise since his spell here.

Watched them play AZ a couple of weeks ago where they managed to hold them at home to a 1-1 draw and he kept them in the game and got them the draw. It's just a strange signing how it all turned out.

Need to spend at least £25 million in in window still leaves the board with £50 million plus and anything less they are giving sevco a big £50 million plus cheque.
So 5 players at 5 million each and you can throw on top a loan player to gives us at least 6 new players.
I suspect we will get nothing near that and probably 2 players at £3 million and a couple of loan signings and if that happens then the board need chased.

    Rocki (has potential)
    Calmac
    Palma
    Reo
    MOR
    Maeda
    Kyogo
    Abada (at a push)

Keep these players and get rid of the rest by any means possible.. those players are literally the only players I see good enough to remain in a Celtic first team squad.

And if Rodgers doesn't get his head in the game soon he can * off and all..

Just reading back some old articles I posted when Rodgers was last here. Even in 2018/19 when the football wasn't that scintillating he had Roberts, Sinclair and Griffiths coming off the bench to change things. That's miles away from what we currently have, bench wise, on a regular basis.

I'd agree with most of that however, I'm still not convinced by Palma as he seems to drift in and out of games and most opposition defenders now know he tends to cut inside most the time. I also think Abada can also be a bit inconsistent.

Pandemic had a huge amount to do with Barkas struggling to settle and I think once it started going wrong he just chucked it mentally.

Just shows how badly our recruitment has been I would love to have these types of players on the bench to change a game this weekend.

Agreed. I seen an article from someone who was relevant at the time talking about the COVID season. Might have been Brown, where he said it was just a mess with no supporters and then you had players staying in hotels, isolating themselves with no family, no mixing with friends or anything.

Would have impacted anyone. Some of my single friends who lived alone still struggle to this day with their mental health because of it. I have no real desire to discuss the politics and the conspiracy theories with regards to Lockdown itself, just that it did have huge impacts on peoples mental health.

It must have had an effect on the players who come across to this country and were living out of hotels, on there own night after night for months at a time.

Don't think anyone has said Mark Lawwell was relevant at Manchester City. We all know he was relevant within the City Group, though.

He was the Head of Scouting and Recruiting for the largest football group in the world, with significant teams in nearly every continent in the world. Had his name not been Lawwell, he would have been the perfect fit to be our HoR. That's not to defend him or his record since he has come in. It's been poor and needs to be far better but him being involved within Manchester City would have been irrelevant. Why would we want a HoR from Man City? They've probably never looked in the leagues we need to target/operate in for transfers. They'll be looking at the very best.

Mark Lawwell was dealing with Girona, Palermo, Lommel, Yokohama Marinos, Melbourne City, New York City, Troyes.. they're teams which are far closer to operating at our level than we are to Manchester City.

I agree to a point but those two shouldn't be on our improvement list in thia window.

We need to stay away from Asia now as Ang knew the market and lawwell junior knows * all and the European market is where we should be targeting like Norway,Sweden ,Poland , Eastern Europe .

Except, Mark Lawwell never scouted for a club that needs first team players. He was scouting for a a conveyor belt, a glorified player agency. Scouts must find players for a particular club, someone who fits the needs of that club. Mark Lawwell wasn't doing that.
