there is only one person picking the team and its him that choose to play forrest over haksabanovic ,dropped hatate for turnbull ,froze iwata out, persists with mikey johnston plays phillips instead of two promising cb's which we own .rodgers is all over the place ,he maybe needed chris davies with him . john kennedy must be the boards eyes and ears in the dressing room ,when any other * wants to leave all we hear is we wont stand in their way but they stood in his way alright .they is so many mental decisions being made at every level that just get overlooked or even justified if we win the league

Hacksabanovic wanted to leave, he was given plenty of time but you simply don’t act like a spoiled teenager over social media because you’re * and don’t get a game.

We won all our games at the start of the season when he dropped Hatate and it worked, he committed himself to the club and signed a new deal and started to significantly improve his attitude.

We were all saying he should play MJ after the Motherwell draw. He’s not taken it with both hands but the alternative is * Yang so I mean, who do you choose? They’re both * awful. Maeda and Abada both being out injured doesn’t help.

Think it’s well documented that Phillips has a clause in his contract to be in every squad when fit and available. I find it strange with Nawrocki but I don’t think Lagerbielke is suited to our style. Will likely see more of both come the new year when Phillips goes back to Liverpool.

The thing is that the longer he stayed at Liverpool & Leicester the worse the teams got. He isn't a builder, he needs an already built team to succeed and his rep is damaged in England because of that. Celtic was a way to regain some credibility with the football world but he is not helping himself.

Has Rodgers ever pulled a team out of a slump?

None of his jobs seem to survive his team's first bad spell

By definition elite means the best of a select group. He isn't in the best bracket of football managers. Its that simple.

In his 3rd season at Leicester they were down near the bottom most of the season and finished 8th after a few came back from injury, I think Maddison was one of them. Thats a turnaround if sorts. His record at Leicester was excellent, it went wrong once the owners started selling his best players and replacing them with weaker ones; their main business is duty free shops which were obvioulsy empty in Corona and didn't have cash for their EPL toy anymore.

I'm no Rodgers apologist, he's an EPL * and if he did well for us he'd go back there first chance he got, but still think he was the best calibre coach in our reach. Body language looks to me as a man who has been duped (again) by Liewell & Co and regrets coming back (which never, ever made sense to me).

You’d think him and the players would be chapping Michael Nicholson’s door and saying get the GB back in pronto.

Like the guy who had a go at the board on Saturday they would most likely be ejected from the stadium!

They will not eject 60,000 fans if results don’t improve. The board got away with it during the shambles of losing 10iar but not this time.

Yup, and therefore "by definition" it depends on what reference group you choose, which was kind of my point. :50:

He’s not close to the rung down from Klopp and Pep.

That’s the likes of Simeone, Zidane, Conte, Tuchel, Emery etc.

Rodgers can’t hold a candle to those guys. He’s a good manager with a pretty decent CV, but nowhere near elite.

Yes, but not over the last decade. I worded my post very carefully.

yes, the group being football managers, as people tend to use this "he's an elite manager" line not actually comprehending what the word means.

Even in the last decade, getting out of EL groups beats a grand total of 2 wins in CL over 3 or so seasons.

The point is that they might have a different reference group in mind to the one you have. Ironically, if your reference group is "football managers" as you state, then pretty much any EPL manager would qualify as elite. Of course, few of us would cast the net so wide.

Me personally, I consider managers like Howe and Potter to be elite and so I consider Rodgers to be so too. In the context of a Scottish club, that makes sense to me. I totally understand if other people might want to reserve that term for guys like Pep, Klopp, Emery, etc.

The furthest he got in the EL was the first knockout tie, which is the same as Rodgers. Rodgers has a better record in the CL, a better record in CL qualifying and better average coefficient points per game.

I'm a Lenny fan who believes Lenny is incredibly underrated btw.

I understand your point of view even if I don't agree; although I think Emery is a genius who should be in the same bracket as Klopp.
