I’ve not seen a regression like this since Efe.

 

Worst game in a celtuc shirt, everything he did was poor, ovehit and underhi passes, couldn't take a man on, skied a shot, rotten.

 

Thought he was abysmal, not that he was great either, but thought Ralston was far better when he came on.

Obviously Rodgers system is hindering a few players, but it feels like he can't even do the basics anymore.

 

Similar to the wee gimp on the other side. A full back who was signed by the previous manager to play a certain, specific way and now doesn't look capable of playing as a more natural full back.

It's not just Rodgers system tho mate. Vast majority of teams ask the full backs to get forward and get to byline. It's a pretty basic tactic. He just looks completely incapable of it.

 

Aye it's a weird one, he's looked awful for a while, said a few weeks back it looked like he was still carrying something, but he's not improved and it's not like he's struggling to move.

Wouldn't be shocked if he's sold in the next two windows, either by Rodgers or whoever replaces him.

 

Today Ralston was out doing his warm up with the 1st group of subs and then was only sat down a couple of minutes and was sent back out to warm up, round about 30mins into the game.

Dunno if Johnston had a knock or illness or of it was simply bcoz he was that pish but that sub was on the cards from early on in the 1st half.

So if it was just based on performance than I'd reckon he'll be lucky to last past January

 

This is a player that starred in a World Cup a year ago, I honestly don't recognise him, he's not the only one.

 

He will be back to his best now Maeda has returned

 

A pale shadow of the player he was last season. Is it personal form or just regressing like practically every player under Rodgers

 

I totally agree with with your appreciation of big Matt and he is defiantly a big handsome * however, I think he is the exception

 

Looking like a one season wonder under Rodgers.

 

Wondering if he was brought back into the squad too soon from what was a serious injury.

 

That injury looks like it has had a serious effect on him, whether its not 100% or he’s lost all confidence he needs benched for a few games.

 

He's been absolutely pish this season, granted he has had his injuries.

I said at the end of last season Johnston could play for anybody he wanted and not look out of place, Arsenal, Man City, whoever. He was that * good last season for us and the games I watched in the world cup he looked incredible.

I think it's a bigger issue than just his form, it's like the covid season all over, we have talented players who are playing pish.

The recruitment this summer was probably the worst window that I can remember.

But it's down to the manager now, the training the preparation, tactics and instructions or lack of.

Rodgers is on what 70k 80k per week, I know money doesn't guarantee anything but it sticks in my craw that our manager is earning more a week than about 90% of me and other season ticket holders in a year. Earning more than double weekly what most of us earn annually actually.


And he's making such a * of it.

 

Or Rodgers is ruining him, just like Kyogo.

 

Didn't watch much of the WC but think I saw 2 games with him in it, definitely the Croatia one and an earlier one. He was fine in those but far from incredible. Personally, I think he's been hyped up based on coming in the second half of the season and slotting in and doing a solid job after Juranovic was sold. He was still definitely better last season though. No doubt.
