A big * YOU to all the 'Dead Rubber' *. In the champions league there's no such thing as dead rubber since every point is worth a fortune and don't forget we just took full points from the team the pumped the Huns stupid in the qualifier.

It won't paper over the cracks but I knew this CL campaign was too soon for this team under Rodgers style of play and how he sets up. The transfer window was so strange as we expected BR to bring in some quality and experience but we opted again for young projects.

However, that win last night was vital and important on a few levels. Another few million to top up the bank balance but we all know we are managed financially sound but at the cost of progress. We don't expect the board to splurge money everywhere but we should be building every window and transfer the non starters. This will bear its own fruit. Copenhagen and Sociedad have done alright.

The victory gets the CL monkey off our back and it is unacceptable the poor European results we have had to endure for seasons under different managers and media commentators reminding us every 5 minutes. So hopefully this will give the team the taste of winning on the big stage and we can now relax and judge BR on his next European campaign where the team will be his. From here we need to step up and consistency is key.

Also the big picture overall is our domestic performances have been turgid and brutal to watch. Apart from a few results we look a bit flat footed and unsure of breaking teams down. The only 2 players with top marks, for me, is O'Riley and The Warrior Scales. We need to show that confidence domestically to make this mini crisis disappear but as fans we wait with baited breath for the January Window.

We are 5 points ahead with the filth a game in hand but that 5 points will be restored when we beat the * in a couple of weeks and kick on from there. We will win the league and there can be no excuse next season if we don't make the signings.

Point still stands that we earnt a small fortune from that win and we didn't actually play too baldly in the group. Getting * over with red cards didn't help but we still finished off way better than the Huns ever would have had they been in that same group.
