It is a good films and well worth it. but yes, it has undoubtedly hurt it's box office, as the runtime has probably kept more than a few away from going to it at the cinema, when thery can wait for streaming and be able to pause it as it is needed (for a drink, toilet whatever), compared to not having much change from 4hrs straight (if walking in halfway through the trailers before the film) without a break.

Sadly a lot of flaws outweigh the positives here. Far too much tell and not show. coupled with pacing isssues that doesn not do the source material justice. Especially leaving so much weakened and depleted first act. Would've been better to split the source novel into two movies and expand apon both the first and third acts and beyond, instead of this. Will be curious if they do release an extended addition with the 1st and 3rd act expanded upon, but as is, am more than a bit underwhelmed and better to the original source prequel book than this adaptation that seeminglt felt so much on the editing room floor.

Just Watched Sound Of Freedom and thought it was well played 7/10 thankfully it didn’t go into anything to Graphic regarding child Trafficking. Was an eye opener that’s for sure , didn’t realise it was a 150 billion dollar a year Business and the US is one of the biggest Destinations for human trafficking aswell as being among the largest consumers of child molesters.

fair play going deep down into cartel land not many men would do that.

It took me three attempts to watch this. On the first two tries, I quit both times thinking the film was overrated. Just tried again on the 3rd attempt..This time...brilliant! 8/10

:50: Anyone checking this out, make sure it's the original from the 70's, not the remake from the early 00's.

The simple answer sadly, is no. As it currently exists the theatrical cut is very disappointing to say the least.

I was genuinely looking forward to this and was genuinely diappointed, both from the perspective of a * historian and from a movie perspective. I am assured the costuming and set design is on point (being blind can't comment on this aspect myself) and Vanessa Kirby as Josephine is probably the best thing about it, but sadly beyond that it is all a bit of a let down.

Considering it's dealing with one of the most notable figures in history and given that Phoenix is renowned for bringing such complex characters to life, all that is presented here is largely through the prism of being something of a one dimensional simp and as a character study it is a complete fail. There are so many aspects of his career and achievements, both martial and civil that are barely touched upon and many completely ignored entirely, let alone not touching on what inspired, motivated and drove the man or what made his genius and life so remarkable. The writing is seriously lacking and the editing is a complete butcher's shop.

Ridley Scott is capable of some really good movies (Martian, Gladiator, Alien, Black Hawk Down, Blade Runner, American Gangster et al), but he can also make some pretty underwhelming &/or disappointing ones as well and sadly this fits into this latter catagory.

That said, there is a rumour - and admittedly I don't know how true it is - that Apple have a much longer version of this movie that they are keeping up their sleeves and put out this theatrical cut bcause they were spooked by the criticism directed at 'Killers of the Flower Moon' for being too long, so they didn't want to repeat the same mistake so they ordered this theatrical cut. I really hope this is true and that a longer version of the film does exist and restores so much of what has been neglected here. Honestly, they would've been better served just making a film about his rise or one about his fall rather than trying to squeeze everything into this 2 1/2 hr movie and not do either (or anything else about him) justice.

Mud on iPlayer. A film from 2012

Two young boys help a convict on the run try to escape with his true love, while the bad guys seeking revenge close in.

It's a little slow moving in places but it's acted very well by all involved. The two teenage boys giving stellar performances. Nice soundtrack as well.

    7/10 for me.

Highlander on iPlayer. It's been flipping ages since I've seen it. Still holds up very well. Great to see mid 80s New York and of course the highlands!

    There can be only one!
