One other reason that occurred to me a while back on why we are struggling to win against more teams is that because of the way we played under Ange the last 2 years, other teams in the league had to adapt to it, to even stay in the game.

Now with our change of style being less pressing, less all out and slower paced, they are finding it that bit easier than expected. Almost like we are victims of our own success.

My concern when Rodgers was appointed for the 2nd time was whether he had learnt anything from his time at Leicester. Did he recognise anything he had to improve in terms of how he works, his tactics, his coaching? Did he spend any time reflecting on what he could improve given the way his reign ended with Leicester? To be honest I think he hasnt, I think his inflated ego and stubbornness and his exaggerated self worth and arrogance prevents him from growing and adapting his views on the game and his methods.

Hasn't won 3 games in a row since his reappointment.
Is about to throw away an 8 point lead that could have been extended to 11 points twice.
If he drops the last 2 points he needs sacked on the spot.

Anyone playing Football Manager would have heard of Jota (long-term wonderkid). Anyone watching half a dozen EFL games a season would have heard of CCV.
Starfelt was a recent Sweden cap. Anyone keeping an eye on international football could have come across him.

None of those signings are necessarily evidence of extensive, quality scouting. Maybe they are, but I doubt it.

Edit: Also, let’s not kid ourselves on that anyone at Celtic is ‘trawling through data’. This is a club still under the Lawwell regime of running on a shoestring, with previous for cutting personnel/funding from several departments, scouting included. It would be peak Lawwell to think, ‘why invest in scouting/analysis of our own when we can have Mark lift the phone to some contacts he has?’

Clear as day that this is often (probably not always) what is happening.

I mean they do deserve credit for bringing quality, it has to be balanced and it doesn't really matter how they arrived..

If you take Matt O’Riley, credit where its due an excellent piece of scouting..

I really do think Rodgers needs a change of formation, playing 4-3-3 and a sort of hybrid of his football and Ange's isn't working..

He needs to try something different and really put his stamp on the team...

He also said that he had watched all of our games last season. Even if he did want to see the players in the flesh, I refuse to believe he didnt take the job with an idea of where we were weak or what targets he wanted to bring in. It isnt rocket science that Hart needed replaced, that Taylor is a very limited left back and that we were light up front.

I believe Palma was an attempt to replace Jota, but is nowhere near his level.

Despite the poor Recruitment, Rodgers not getting the best out of one of those players at the moment. Always a concerning sign. Maybe with the exception of O’Riley.

Most of the players performances barring O’riley have declined since last season.

This is it. Well put. He needs to go to his 4-2-3-1 or whatever he feels best suits his style and with the players at his disposal currently.

I'd be tempted to go 3-5-2. Gets Taylor out the team reducing a clear target for the opposition. Get another body in the centre of the park and gets 2 up top, which I think we need at times.

Ange would struggle with this team also simply because far too many are duds and our summer buys are absolute duds apart from palma.

Take hatate, maeda, jota, abada, starfelt and mooy out of anges team it wouldve been a shitshow too.

Dare I say he's not getting the best out of certain players, simply because they aren't suited to his more considered and technical approach to a game of football.

Ange's game was based off high energy, quick intuitive football, with little time on the ball to ensure players don't over think, which is why those runs from Kyogo or cutting in from RW from Abada was typically so effective.

Ange allowed guys like Hatate to play the "Hollywood" pass as often as he thought he could see it, that type of stuff will get Hatate benched without a moments hesitation from Rodgers over the course of a season.

Rodgers is playing a style more suited to a mid table EPL team that is trying to take the sting out of the game, whereas we should be, for a multitude of reasons be utterly dominant in majority of domestic games and at least playing a more adapted version of what Ange was typically putting out.

Right now it feels more like Rodgers has come in and done more of a Lennon by just immediately ripping out all the good that had been done and going back to an outdated version of football.

It's infuriating to watch as Rodgers, despite my personal feelings for him, is a top drawer manager. So to further contradict myself I just don't see us ever losing the league whilst Rodgers is at the helm.

There is just so many variables should Celtic lose this league title that I just can't see why the board would ever want to risk playing that game again, when we are barely that far removed from the 10iar fiasco.

I know the AGM suggests otherwise but I just can't believe for a minute they aren't acutely aware of the reputational and financial shitstorm heading their way if the Rodgers return fails with its first season.

He'd better do it quick - that's if he really can. Anyone who continually plays Taylor and drafts in Phillips for the last two games doesn't sound like good management to me.

It's a much superior team still to most of the spl teams. If we have also a better manager then we shouldn't be dropping so many points.

Do you think Rodgers would have taken a 5pt(*2pt) lead at this stage of this season, at the start of the season..? Bearing in mind Huns have to come to us twice..

    Probably, eh..

It certainly is and at the minute we sit top of the league but the point stands that we are missing a few top players and the new buys simply have been nowhere near good enough.

we definitely need a keeper, lb, defensive mid, a striker and possibly a right winger, id like to see first team ready players bought for each position, say £5m for each gives a spend of £25m which we should be capable of spending.

no more youth projects or punts, ready made first team players.

Do you ever get that horrible sinking feeling knowing that we will probably all be back on here when the January transfer door slams shut saying that we need a team ready gk, lb, defensive mid, a striker and possibly a right winger,
