We are the same age WB, I also have quite bad arthritis, but find doing regular light weights and machines helps me all round, almost have a six pack back as well. aim for every other day or even twice a week and you will feel the benefits

Stupidly signed up for an Athlean X 12 week course. I wish I'd done more research rather than filling in the quiz and doing the suggested one. I'm doing AX-1 and I probably should be doing shred. I'm dreading the test you do in weeks 4, 8 and 12. if you fail you restart the month. I think I'll give each test my best but go through week 12, see results and either redo or do a different course and then go back.
    Week 4- 17 mins: 100 invested rows, 100 press ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats. it's doable m
Week 8- in 60 secs do 10 pushups, 5 rows, 10 squats, 10 jumping jacks. Repeat 20 times. your only rest is the time you finish to the end of 60 secs.
Week 12-10 Burpees, 10 KB swings, 10 rows, 10 v up russian twists. 12 sets in as quick as you can.

Being diagnosed diabetic at the start of the year seemingly has been a wake up call and done wonders for me. Was weighed 113kg that day, start Feb.

    Now 91kg.

Mostly simply change of diet and regular walks (and the meds), still looking to drop a few more kg as well as the blood sugar down. Wouldn’t say I’m fit, far from it but have more endurance less back pain so not complaining

Good stuff there. Walks are a great thing, and really everyone should be making time for them. In laws moaning about not losing weight, I said find time to do 20-30 mins walking each day, even if 3 10 minute walks. They said they didn't have the time but they have the time to drive to mcdonalds in their lunch hour.

    What are invested rows?

I like the sound of those targets. No exactly what I do but I do sort of similar with press ups. This is my routine when I get going and all on my tod indoors when I get the time..

Do some sort of wee bit of shadow boxing to loosen my arms :giggle1:

Then I bang out 300 press ups. I start by doing 80 to 85 in one go (which took me quite long to get to that stage and I can't seem to go up yet any higher) wee breaks in between and then I bang about another 60 to 60 odd out. Same again and you get the jist..

Do 300 sit-ups. Always try and get to 100 in one go at the first lot....then same as above kinda after..

Do 300 bicycle squats on the floor..

Do 100 of those wee pull ups with arms behind your back, knees bent...can't even mind what they're called..

Might do some weights in doors and usually do a wee outdoor apparatus workout as well..

Feel like I need to change it up though and hit new targets as it can get boring as for well over 2 months I've been doing the exact same routine. Try and do this most days but don't always do every single day..

Today for example done 12k run in 57 minutes but nothing else..

Feel fit and in good nick. I'd be ridiculous if I didn't * it on weekends and binge on drink, other stuff and eat loads of * whilst dying for a day or 2 but we can't have it all :giggle1:

I'm assuming he meant inverted rows , like a barbell set up for bench press but take away the bench and grap the bar and hand from it , can elevate your legs on a bench or keep them on the floor and pull your chin up to the bar.

If you're looking for new things to do , a kettlebell or 2 might be up your street , easily stored and can get a good fullbody workout in with them.

Ah sweet. I'll have a week look in to that mate as 100% looking for more :50:

Worst thing is my brother was a PT for years. If I wait for him to give me some good ones I'll be waiting forever..

Forgot to say like doing the chin ups as well. Definitely feel it when you've banged a couple of sets out..

Rambling on a bit here but was only cause I was talking to my pal earlier both saying about being back on it proper getting in good nick.....til the next week I * it up :giggle1:

I can't do push ups, I end up doing them on my knees, stretch my knees back as far as I can. I can do 30 reps of 52.5kg but I weigh 100kg and I just can't do them. a PT told me as long as you feel it and improve and aim for full PUs it's fine. I do what I can.

Did workout 6 today, it's tough, but doing short rest periods really hammers home. The workouts change every day and in 6 workouts I haven't repeated an exercise once. Today I've never felt anything like it on my triceps. The workout was
3* Burpees press up pyramids 8,6,4,2
4* alternate barbell incline press fail on 10 to12th rep
    3* Side laterals 10-12
    3* tricep kick backs 10-12
    3* tricep push aways 10-12
So high intensity, short timed rests. I actually think the biggest issue is finding time for 5 workouts. Some days I may have to do 2.

On week 4 of Athlean X and had 1st attempt at 400 challenge (100 sit ups, inverted rows, squats, press ups in 17 mins). I did it in ten sets of 10 each exercise. I did 13:43 but I did kind of cheat. I'm a fat 100kg git and can't do press ups so did them on my knees but far back enough so every press up had a burn. I'm still really happy as even then I thought I wouldn't make the 17 minutes. A few months ago I couldn't do sit ups so ignored abs, started doing other core exercises and could do them.

Just something to be aware of regarding fruit...Asda will be using Apeel

Unfortunately, this protective coating is concerning due to the ingredients used and the fact that it cannot be washed off. It is even found on organic produce. This leaves consumers with no means to prevent exposure to the product.
The FDA's report on Apeel notes the presence of trace amounts of heavy metals and highly processed fats (think trans fats) in the product. While these levels are not an immediate cause for concern when consumed in small quantities, the accumulation of these heavy metals in the body over time can impose a burden and potentially contribute to chronic illnesses.

Ran 18 miles yesterday. Been doing a 12 week marathon training plan since I came back from holiday in September and still hope to manage one before the end of the year.
